I cannot remember but, do we have a generic keyword for when a card does not fit any of the monthly themes?
The monthly themes are just suggestions if you feel like using them. Otherwise, most of us have a personal quota per month so we post to the month with the same keyword as if we'd done the monthly theme. Sometimes I play along with the theme, sometimes I don't.

I am mostly making cards for the booth so its not really a quota to meet at this point, I probably only need maybe maybe 20 more cards before Nov so, I am just doing what ever I want more or less and playing with new things or things I have had forever that do not have one of those in the suitcase and if it happens that I make something that will work well for someone I am mailing a card to personally then I may end up with more cards than I need based on what sells for the school. ( I came home with quite a few last fall)
I just posted my first 3 cards for the January challenge. I think my mojo might have finally turned a corner, out of the dark alley it's been lost in for the last couple of months.
Guess I'd better get back to my crafting table & take advantage of it!

If you are falling behind now is the time to start combining holiday cards with some of the weekly challenges, especially the sketch challenge on Wednesdays!
Susan, they don't have to fit with the challenge - the challenge is just an option. The object is to get your cards done ahead no matter what theme they are. I set myself a monthly quota and only occasionally follow the optional challenges - my main goal is to get that quota done.

I will try to join in Jan 2019 if this is still happening. I am sprtchick aka Amber. I make at least a 100 a month and some months many more. I need to for the dog rescue I support, church and anything else that comes up that can use a card donation to make some money. I dont get where you post your finished products?
Hi Amber! Welcome to the Christmas Card challenges.
There are keywords for each month of the year for your cards and a separate thread for each month. Example of a keyword for this month: CCC18SEP
Post your card to your gallery using the appropriate keyword, then come back and post to the appropriate thread. Ok the links to each month's theme is on page one of this thread in the first post.
If you followed the theme for that month that is wonderful! If not post anyways, everyone wants to see your cards! Themes are here to help you make cards not as a requirement.
The goal is that you make cards each month for the holiday so you don't have stress in December!!
If you have any questions feel free to pm me at any time!! I'm here to help!!
hey,Hawaiian, love the pic of your plumeria! gardener here. I would so love to be part of this also. Last year I ended up typing up my addresses on the computer so I could have on labels ( writing all those addresses is a pain to me LOL) . I did still end up making cards at the last minute, ughhh…. you know those all nighters ? lol
I have bought my new Christmas stamps, now to just get an idea of a design.

Mahalo Fairy Much Sis SueEllen. Have you tried growing them there in Florida? Im thinking they would do well since we have pretty much the same climate.
Enjoy this Xmas card challenge it gives not just ideas but lots of inspiration. I rarely give out Xmas cards since I was lil and in elementary it was then my kids who did the cards for classmate. But how it has changed I remember every year the teachers would make a huge Xmas card box and we all would bring our cards in and drop them in and at the last day of school before Xmas break every class would have a party in their rooms and she or she would assigned someone to pass the cards out . So sad they dont do that tradition anymore. Those were the days.
Hey ! Oh yes, we can grow the plumerias here very well. I have a yellow one that is about 10 ft high. There is a special grower not too far from me in Sarasota, Florida, a gardener friend and I are planning a trip to it.
What a lovely thing they did when you were growing up! soo sweet. I know what you mean, things have changed. :( Where my hubby works it is a small private company, they actually have a Chaplin come in monthly and take the employees to a Christmas lunch. Not much heard of these days.

I have been way to lax in meeting my Christmas card goal. Recently took inventory of my Card situation and need to get in gear. Hopefully this month I get caught up.

Have you made lei with your plumerias? Or wear them in your hair or behind your ears?
Is yours the Yellow with white edges? Or the smaller all yellow no white?
Be nice if you could get this salmon colored one thats my avatar.
When I am stuck on what to do for a card I usually go and find the sketch challenge for the week!! It gives me direction that sometimes sparks my creativity!
I am sooooo behind. I need another 24 cards yet. :(
got so behind doing wedding cards, then I lost all my mojo and happy thoughts. LOL
Card making desire is broken.
I was asked by a coworker to 150 wedding invitations for her daughter. SHe asked me in May, Wedding was in October, piece of cake. I showed her some samples of ideas I had. She picked one, and colors. Elegant Eggplant and Night of Navy. The Eggplant was retirng, so I ordered it right away. THe flowers wer going to be Orchids. So I ordered Climbing Orchid and Thinlits I asked others how they figure out how to charge. Told her, $600 she about fainted, later in the day she asked if there was any way it could be cheaper. I decided I'd go $450 Sh eagreed and was going to pay me on payday. It was July before I saw any money, and not from her. Her ex husband was nominated to pay me 1/2. next payday came and nothing from her ....I got nothing from them until August and they changed the info. They asked if there was any way I could go cheaper. I said I'd knock off another $100 if I didn't color the orchids. Then she asked if I could get them the envelopes to start addressing them. Finally got the new info, printed those pages. cut all the cardstock pieces. Ugh I even was giving her cards as I got them done I have 50 cards yet in my possession and I am still owed $150 .4Wedding has come and gone!
oh Vikki Jo that bites! People are so rude! They think because something is handmade it should cost less than store bought, but have no idea the time and expense to make quality things like that.
I don't think I would have discounted the cards as much as you did. And when she started bargaining, I would be very tempted to tell her to go some where else.

First of all, you were very fair in your original pricing. I'm sorry you have not be totally compensated yet. I'd send her an invoice showing the total amount of the order less payments you have received so far resulting in the amount still due you.
I have found a way for seeing how serious someone is in with making custom cards and also quilts. I tell them to buy the materials, then give them to me and I will make the cards or quilt for $XXX more. (of course, you will need to help them determine what is needed).
You'd be surprised how many people will decide to do something else once they see the cost of materials alone.
A very good idea! I asked someone to make a quilt for my son not knowing anything about quilting. Shehhwas excellent! She told me all the steps... All the costs... I paid material up front... Then she needed something... Can't remember what.. but she brought the quilt in progress to explain what she needed.. gave her another partial payment then full payment when done. My son absolutely loves the quilt and she won awards with it.
