2011 Cards for A Cause ~ DECEMBER MISSION ~ Stamp from the Heart!
ORGANIZATION BEING FEATURED:
West Middle School
Gurnee, Ill.
This month we are helping a fellow SCSer make a difference in some young people's lives. Sharon (vlasak) is involved with an on-going program through the local schools in her area whereby they raise funds and send cards to those in need. Sharon works with 6th graders in a very high risk area -violence, gangs, poverty, shelter living etc. Their mission is to teach the value of giving. They work with the kids to sending all types of cards to military, nursing homes and childrens hospitals. Sharon works with 6th graders but also has younger kids help as part of a service learning project in the elementary school.
Many students have a VERY hard time with learning the value of giving but its proven to be a very successful endeavor. Its success has resulted in the program being combined with the high school which in turn will reach more and more students. Cards are needed to keep the giving going!
Any and all cards. Card fronts are welcome. Cards that can be used for any occasion all year round. You may even send incomplete cards/kits/supplies as in those situations, Sharon also works with the kids to complete/finish up making the cards.
SPECIAL RESTRICTIONS:
None
ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Please include an envelope with each card for purposes of convenience. Since these cards will be given to students to give to others, they should be blank inside.
MAILING ADDRESS:
We are sending the cards directly to Sharon instead of the school as she is distributing them to more than one school. That address is as follows:
Sharon Clark
7001 Bentley Dr
Gurnee IL 60031
Fellow SCSer's, thank you for spreading your SCS love! Please feel free to mail your cards all throughout the month of December!
Once you have mailed them come back to us here and let us know they have gone postal!
25 cards are going in the mail today. I can't take credit for most of them, my sister-in-law cleaned out her card stash and gave me 23 to send in and I added two of mine. Hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
I am very happy to just send the card fronts that the kids can work on and use their own creativity to finish. Have to get busy this coming weekend. Thanks for all you do.
Wow! You guys just rock! I know Sharon will be very appreciative! So cool! You guys are always there! Month after month! Hey Amy, thank your sister in law, will ya? Hee Hee!
I made and packaged up 30 cards this week. I included card stock, layers, punched designs, ribbon, stickers, whatever needed to make a card. They can used their imagination in what to do with each card pack. They will go out in Monday or Tuesday's mail.
Merry Christmas to all. Rita
Raided my stash; have 8 cards going out tomorrow! Better late then never...

Just wanted to let you know that I sent out 30 cards to Sharon today. Did I miss the poll for this month? Thanks very much for hosting and for all your work this year. I've really appreciated having this venue to bless others with stamping and card making.
Hi Sarah! Thank you so much for sending Sharon so many cards! I was trying to simplify things in December and didn't post a poll.
I did get a pm from Sharon and she is very thankful for all the cards. She appreciates your efforts to get her so many cards and is grateful to have them! Thanks from me too! You guys always come through!
Hello Ladies- just wanted to send a big THANK YOU! We are going back to school at the end of this week and I cant wait to share the cards with the kids! We will be putting them to good use! I appreciate all of your efforts and generosity!
I wanted to give an update as to how this project is going. The kids are making me cry just about every day with the way they are responding! They have fully embraced this project as they do every year. Each year the kids come to my class and ask about this project because those that had me the year prior brag about doing it. Just the other day we got a thank you card from a soldiers family.. (it was one that we sent in a car package) and this made the kids so happy! I thank everyone who has particpated! Your generosity is truly overwhelming! I simply cannot thank you enough! We are continuing this project until we no longer have supporters! I thank you all again! These are kids that would never know the beauty of giving back- until now!
