I'm new to SCS and just wanted to share that I will be joining in this challenge. My Mother lost her 6 year battle with ovarian cancer two years ago. Her chemo unit had the best group of nurses that you could ever ask for. In this unit their where 6 chairs per pod. After going every Tuesday for months, you start meeting new friends. Well, they became my chick's as I mothered over all of them each week. Our twelve hour days were hard. Mom always slept for about eight of those hours leaving me to spread love. Most days I would crochet 4 hats for the new patients. Knit scarves or quilt little wall hangings for them. Just to see there face light up when they were handed their gift, made my heart flutter. This simple act of giving gave me hope in a time that was very difficult for our family. Most of my chick's have since lost their battles and have moved on to a place witout pain and chemo. Thanks for this challenge, I know that it will bring so many smiles and hope to those in their time of need. in advance, thank you to everyone.
I'm about to leave for the post office with a few cards for you....I did not post a card on the gallery (I'm giving cards I got from others in my card club and don't feel I should post a card I didn't design) so I just thought I should let you know some are on their way!
Ok, you all got me inspired to go join Chemo Angels, so I did.... Or at least, I tried to! UGH! I thought once I turned 18 I could do anything, then I realized that really it was once you were 21 that you could do whatever you want... Except for Chemo Angels, where you have to be 25! I'll be 25 in just 3 more months... Is that worth a lie? LOL! If I don't do it now, I'll probably forget about it...
On the other hand, we're buying a house next month and having a baby in January, maybe I'll just wait til that's all over... Hmmm.... Ok, I'll just have to settle for sending in all of my cards this way until I'm "of age"!!! *sigh* So much for my good intentions though!
I'm a proud chemo angel and was assigned a few months ago, and it's been rewarding and cathartic at the same time (cancer has hit my family too many times) I'd be honored to send some cards. Thanks for this card request - it's nice to know they will be send to those in great need of comfort and support.
Thanks, McBetty! I've never tried to rent a car before, but now I'll just have my hubby do it if I need one! And this is Baby Girl #3, so I'm super excited because we get to get out all those beautiful clothes again! YAY!!! Not that a boy would have been bad, but it would have been starting over! I've already got pics of the new one planned... In this outfit, with that bow, and those shoes! LOL!!!!
This is a wonderful idea. I'm guessing that you'll accept cards received in swaps... i really need to go through my collection & thin it out a bit... I'll try to make time this weekend to go through them so that I can get them sent out in plenty of time.
Thank you everyone... I'm looking forward to finding out what the final count for cards is for this cause/month.
Well, have thought about this since I first saw the post on the homepage. I have visited the Cards for heroes site as well and am considering sending some to that cause. I do not feel that I can become a Chemo Angel at this time as my life seems to hectic right now - but I can certainly contribute to the cause through this venue.
Just to let you know - I will be having a biopsy on Tuesday of this next week. It is low-suspicion and I am not terribly worried, but my mom did have a bout with breast cancer fairly recently, so it 'runs in the family' so to speak and that is the concern they have and why they are doing this.
I will gather some cards together - I have been wondering what to do with all the cards I make - and send some on next week. Thank you for this incredible opportunity to bless others with our 'talents'.

I was so touched by your story, Thank you for sharing it. Put me down for the cards and I also would like to donate a few stamp sets and supplies. I have several that are not being used and after reading your story I hope to repeat what your friend did for you. Any suggestions? Thanks for the opportunity to help a good cause. DStanton
Would definitely love to participate. My mother recently went through breast cancer and is in remission now. What a tough thing to go through after loosing your husband barely a year before that and still raising 3 young kids. She is truely a blessed spirit to have endured all of it. She is doing great now and we hope to keep it that way. I am hosting a christmas card party for a lady this month so we will be making a card each to donate at her party. The ladies and I are very excited to help.
Would just like to thank SCS and this new challenge as this is how I heard about Card Angels......I officially received my wings today and have my first assignment. Thanks so much as this is an adventure I will truly enjoy. I truly think this program rocks.
After reading some of your stories, I can't help but think of how blessed I really am. I have 2 wonderful, healthy children and a wonderful husband of 9 years.
Although my life is extremely busy now, I am going to purposfully schedule time to make and send some cards. Thank you for this wonderful cause. I didn't know there was such an organization out there.
I am blessed to have found SCS! This website is truly inspiring!
I can see butting handmade by but not sure about the love part. I was also givin an idea from a friend of mine, She said that in stead of writing in the card we but write a letter to them on another piece of paper and tell them that they can reuse the card for someone else if they would like. That way it would be like getting a gift as well that they can pass on if they would like. Just a thought....

I was with the understanding that we were to leave them "blank" inside ... the Angels write the messages for whichever patient is in need of a card at that point in time.
I just sent a box full of cards in the mail today ... what a great cause!!
Oh Ok I must be mistake what she was talking about then. I am waiting for a patient that I will be sending cards to two a week. I am going to be a card angel...
I made a new card today, I am putting it in a package with other cards from my stash from swaps. Chemo angel Wild about you card by deelite at Splitcoaststampers

This is a great organization. I am on my third buddy right now. Happy to report that my first two buddies graduated treatment and are doing well. This is a great way to channel my stamping. I now have a weekly reason to stamp and I know that what I send out has a purpose for someone else.
I have said this before, but have to say it again and probably again and again, but this is the GREATEST bunch of women in the world, all these nice cards being made for exsisting Angels and more ladies signing up to be Angels, I am proud to be a part of these 2 great groups. I have also made some cards to send in they will go in mail in a few days, everyone keep up the good work. God Bless you all!
