I love this idea and can't wait to get stamping for such a wonderful cause! If I make a card for stamp club to replicate, is it okay to send a bunch of the same card?

I'm confused (no surprise there) who will be receiving the cards? THe patients to use to keep in touch with their angels or the angels?
Great question! I started making some cards to send along and then I realized that I don't really know what I am doing.. More details on what the cards are for, please.
I mailed three today. Thanks for the opportunity to help out such a worthy organization and a group of people who I care about. I loved reading all of the above posts, too. It made my day to remember that there's hope for healing and people who care.

The cards will go first to the angels who then write in them and mail to the buddies individually. They'll be divided among several angels.
Some angels are Special Assignment angels who get email every month from the admin listing the birthday patients that month. The birthday list includes religious beliefs such as Catholic, Baptist, nothing religious please, Christian, Jewish Conservative, etc etc.
Sometimes we get individual emails that say things like:
Jane Doe has been very sick lately and in a lot of pain with multiple health problems. Let's do what we can to send her some sunshine!!
or xxx writes that she's feeling discouraged, depressed and withdrawn. She could really use some Angel love right now!!

Oh yes, patients are NOT expected to reply to the angels, they have so much to cope with the scheduling of the chemos, the stress, the lack of energy, last thing they need is to feel obligated to write back. Some are silent buddies and some are not.

Thank you this is the perfect answer. I have found that my reading comprehension and retention has gone down exponentially with each child I birthed
Thanks for clearing this up. I'm so excited to get stamping.

will be glad to participate....love the idea of the recipient group changing....and the fact that the group will be checked out before receiving cards.....too bad, but there are scammers in all sorts of situations......now we will know that they really go to a great cause each month...
Ijust signed up to be a chemo angel. I lost both my greatgrand mother and mother in law to ovarian cancer. I wish I had known about this sooner. I hope I will be able to do my little part to making someone else day a little brighter.............
This is my first time hearing of scs's monthly "cards for a cause" challenge. I have to say thank-you to all the chemo angels out there...thank-you for all you do!
Cancer has been a part of my life since my best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001 and an even bigger part of my life for the last 2 1/2 years. The first week of 2006 my husbands aunt, grandfather, and my dad were all diagnosed with cancer. Feb 4th, 2006 my husbands grandfather died, followed by my best friend on March 1st, 2006. My dad fought a long battle and lost it in Jan. 7th, 2007. My husbands aunt continues to fight her battle with breast cancer and seems to be doing ok. Mid 2007 my husbands grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer, thankfully it was caught when it was small and in the early stages. Dec. 2007 my step dad was diagnosed with leukemia, spent many weeks in the hospital for chemo, and fought the hardest fight of his life. He passed June 1st, 2008. I just started becoming a little more active on scs when my step dad was diagnosed with cancer and decided to ask for a Prayer and RAK request. The ladies that came through for my step dad were absolutely amazing!!! The cards they sent him brought a smile to his day and made his room so bright and cheerful. I know some may think "it's just a card" but when you're all by yourself for so many hours a day and sometimes hundreds of miles away from your family, it's nice to know you're thought of and prayed for even if it's by someone you don't know. Words can never express how grateful I am for all that the ladies did on here to make my step dad's last days more cheerful and thank-you just doesn't seem to be enough.
I hope that the word will spread about this challenge so it will be a huge success!

To subscribe to the thread go to the top of this page. There's a gray bar with 3 options across the top. Click on thread tools and pick subscribe to this thread. In there you have the option to choose if you want to get instant (my recommendation), daily and I can't remember the rest of the options...
I am assuming that masculine cards are ok too? I know when I make cards, I tend to think in terms of ribbon and scallops but I don't want the guys to be left out either. Just checking before I start crafting.

I am newer to this site and was wondering if the cards have to have stampin' up stamps only? If not then I would love to join in on this but if so then I am sorry I can't do this one, I don't have any SU stamps.

SCS is open to ALL stampers, not just the SU loyalists. (No offense, I have a bunch, too) For this cause I would think that they would welcome any and all handmade cards. At least that is the assumption I am working with...

I am so thrilled that you have chosen ChemoAngels for this challenge... I've been an Angel since 2002!
Cards with a happy little saying or a simple "Thinking of You" are the ones I use most often for Angel assignments.
I have one additional idea-- if the donors would feel so inclined, you might also think of including some postage along with your cards. The ChemoAngels organization is always asking us (the volunteers) for postage money to help with shipping out the donations they receive. I'm sure they would be grateful for any postage you'd like to contribute to help with shipping these beautiful cards out to the Angels who will be using them. (The Angels will affix their own stamps when they use the individual cards-- I'm thinking more of the bulk shipping of packs of cards that will happen. Angels are scattered all over the world, but the home of the organization is in one woman's home in the USA.)

I will jump in and answer this as a ChemoAngels volunteer... YES! You'd be surprised how hard it is to find cards for male patients.
I missed this last month, so glad I saw it this month. I just received a Simply Sent set and will make the cards out of that for Chemo Angels. And see if I can think up some masculine cards also - that is a tough one. I will also go through my overwhelming pile of swap cards. No need for them to sit around and gather dust.

Count me in....can't wait to get started! This is so wonderful. I have lost loved ones to cancer and understand the sorrow watching and knowing there is nothing I can do, but now I feel like I can help in some small way! Thanks to all who participate and to those who initiated the idea!!!
Good morning. I belong to a monthly local card club. I missed last month's so when I arrived last night I had the set of September cards waiting for me. I also got another set for October so I have around 22 cards that I can mail in. There were a couple of masculine cards. I will drop cards in the mail soon for the cause. I hope everyone has a great day!
My DH finally took pics of my cards. I would have taken the pics myself but he insisted he could get better ones =P . So far I made 6 cards. One is in my carved stamps folder. BluDragon's Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I just visited the chemo angel website. Its simply an amazing organization. I applied to become a card angel. I'm so moved by this organization and the outpouring that I know it will receive from SCS.
