I hope you are all having an amazing week and February has been treating you well so far! We’re going to change things up a bit for what will hopefully be some fun for you all. (If you don’t want to “nerd out” with me - feel free to just skip ahead to the sketch 🙂 )
For this and the following three sketches, I'm going to do a little bit of an educational twist with this as we explore the different gaits of the horse. (Did you know I was a bit of a nerd? Now you do! ) As a lifelong horse enthusiast, veterinary technician, and equine sports massage therapist, I love love LOVE to "nerd out" with anatomy (of all species!), especially in terms to its importance with physiology and biomechanics. I decided I'd start by sharing a bit about the four basic gaits of the horse, and design a sketch around each. This week, we'll start with the slowest of the four: the walk!
The walk, by definition, is a four-beat gait with no moment of suspension; which means that at any given time there is at least one foot on the ground. The order of the sequence is as follows: outside hindleg, outside foreleg, inside hindleg, and then inside foreleg. In other words, if the horse is facing left and walking in front of you, first the back right hoof, then front right hoof, followed by the back left hoof and then front left hoof would subsequently contact the ground to propel the horse's massive body forward.
I found this short video clip to illustrate, if you care to take a peek:Please feel free to let the idea of the walk inspire what you create, too! (Not necessary, but extra "points" if you choose to do so! )
Thank you to the entire sketch team for their lovely examples this week to stir up your creativity!

Have a GREAT week everyone, and I hope you have some fun with this one! Blessings & hugs,
Chrissy

Thank you for this "lesson" about horses, I had a friend when I was a teen, they had a horse school I was there very often, this challenge reminds me my dear friend The Attraction is You
Great sketch, thanks! I needed a birthday card for my DS who's turning 30- he loved living in Bozeman Montana (went to college there too) so I made him this card- Shades of Blue HB

Chrissy- great sketch, had to revisit it for a second card! This time, I scribbled borders on 3 of my panels and added a distressed central panel and sentiment. Here's Donkey with rose

loved this sketch so much I came back to it again for the 3rd card! Worked well with the vintage vibe of my card for the Make It Plaid challenge today. Added a quilt strip from my latest project as a large embellishment. Here's Wagon Buddies

I haven't made any cards since before Christmas. Today I decided to get back to the challenges.
The sketch challenges are always a favorite with me. Here is my card--

Hi,
I finally had time to complete this sketch! I am happy with the way it turned out- love the background, despite the uneven Alcohol ink on it.... : ) Adds to its character....LOL
