The list for retired stamps will be out on Dec. 1, the list for the retired accessories will come out Dec. 10. Pre order for catalogs begins on Dec. 1 too.
Subscribing.... I am a bit nervous to see how all this is gonna work.... and interested in the info... I have been a lot more conservative in my buying habits this year... because of the potential 6 months life span of a stamp set now... :(
That will be hard with only 1 month during x-mas shopping time to buy the sets that are retiring that you really want. I like it the way TAC did it. THeir list just came out and it gives everyone enough time to get what is retiring.
I hope a lot of the new sets don't retire, because I haven't had time to buy all the sets I like yet! I'm anxious to see how this will work out with 2 catalogs a year. Dec. 1 seems like so far away! And last year when the retired accessories list came out, it seemed like a lot of it was already out of stock and could no longer be ordered. Hope that isn't the case this year.
Why only one month this time? Just curious since it's usually two.
Maybe because it's for a 6 month catalog so you get 1 month for the list, and when it used to be a 12 month catalog you got 2 months? Otherwise they'd have retiring lists out for 1/3 of the year.
I'm making this up.
TAC released their retiring list of stamps, and their retiring paper- and some of the paper is already sold out- which is a huge disappointment, as the one I'm thinking of is christmas paper (and fantastic!) and lots of people seemed to have planned on getting it for next month. It probably would still be available if people hadn't already known it was retiring and felt the need to "stock up"
I really like that TAC put the Retiring list out early. It gives me time to order what I want that will not be available in January. December is a hard month to release t he reitiring set as most of everyone is Christmas shopping and that for me cuts down on my stamping purchases. I know I will not be able to spend much then on sets that are going. Even if they would release it November 1st or even the middle of November, It would be much much better. I am sure others feel as I do to. I am not rich and have to watch what I spend as is so for me it sucks that if there are several sets I want, I will only be able to actually get a couple.
I agree with you, Skittl1321. Your idea makes sense. One month for the list now that the catalogue only lasts 6 months. One month should be enough time for us to get our orders in, right?!

November's Stampin' Success says we can preorder catalogs by phone or OEX beginning on November 12.

1 month is fine but it is December and Christmas shopping will take the #1 spot on what alot of people can buy during that month. For me, I did start my shopping but having a large family and kids takes up most of the budget for December. In summer time, it would be fine. I will be able to 1 or 2 sets but that will be all.
I wish I had a money tree!!!!!!
I'm going to be a party pooper and admit that I'm not impressed with this new format. I like the old way, where you have one catalogue to work with, flag your faves, and time to decide if you really need (or love) a particular stamp set. I also agree with the sentiment that putting out a retiring list at Christmas isn't the best timing - like many of you, my financial resources in December are already tied up.
Another thing: I feel bad for my demo, who has a lot more at stake than I do. She only gets a few short months to choose/use the new stamps for her stampers' groups, then faces the possibility of having to buy all new products again in 6 months! I really don't see the incentive for her - it seems that being a demo (and she's so good at it!) will eventually become a money-losing proposition for her since she can't use the stamps again for her work. KWIM?
Ok, rant over. Only time will tell how this all works out.

I agree with the above also. I prefer the 1 big catty. To keep up with the changing trends they could add an extra mini or they could add extra pages to the mini. It gives us on lower incomes a better chance on getting more stamps and accessories. I also feel bad for my Demo.
My December retired list spending will be very limited if even any.

Can I just ask what you mean by this? You are talking about the length of time in the catalogue and not the quality of the stamps, right? :o

I agree with both of your comments. I have barely had time to digest the catalog.
Truthfully I like the 1 catty a year as well. It is to hard to get all of the sets I want this way. I will only be able to buy 1 set in December off the retiring list. At least TAC came out with their retiring list in October. THat gave me al long time to get what I wanted since they are getting rid of half the book!
I suggest for those of you who prefer the 1 catty a year call and write SU.... They will actually listen to their customers and Demo's if ENOUGH noise is made! They are bringing back the 12x12 in all colors from what I understand, so they obviously listen!
I too feel that the 6 month catty period hurts the demo because of the possibility that any stamp set you order could be retired so quickly.

I wonder how long the European catalogues will last. Since they are just out for a few hours, I hope they will not retire again by the end of the year... But it says 2007/2008 on the catalogue, so there is hope...

I agree with this. How do we make noise?? I would much rather have one big catty then have several minis to choose from.

Hi there. I basically agree with all the statements I've heard. I am curious who TAC is. I must be living in a cave but I don't know who this company is.

Just letting you know who TAC is.
We sell unmounted Rubber stamps. (ours are Blue Rubber)
They come with Ez-mount foam (each set) and you use a Acrylic Block instead of wood block for stamping.
Take a look around. If you want to find a demo in your area just look at the top right corner where it says "Shop Now" and put in your zipcode or look at your state.
Only demo's that paid for a TAC website will be listed there.
There are a few of us Demo's here on SCS. Just look for xxxx.ismyangel.net
I'm torn on whether I like the new 2-catty format...I'm excited about seeing the new catty and what wondrous new stamps it will contain, but I do agree with those who are upset by having the retired list coming out in December -- it's just too hard with all of the gift buying! It's too bad SU! didn't take this into consideration and move the 2-catty format to a different 6-mo. range, say March-August, vs. July-December. That way it could really be a Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter collection.

I am in a SU monthly stamp class and I am also in one for TAC. TAC's stamps are rubber but you use acrylic blocks for them. I have mine stored in CD cases. They take up alot less room and they are easy to use. They give great images just like SU.
I do like both companies and I think there really is not much competition as to me I think both companies have different products. THere stamps are also different images.
I will continue to buy from both companies as I could never choose between the the 2. TAC is also doing the 2 catties a year now. THey also have a stamp special of the month and hold other specials sometimes. This month it was double hostess benefits. Glad it was my month to host the party!
