STAMPIN UP IN THE UK AND I'M A DEMONSTRATOR, AT LAST
Woohoo - just had to come and let you all know, just in case you didn't, that Stampin Up has finally come to the UK and I can finally be a demonstrator - tried to join up when I lived in Texas but I didn't have that all important SS number!
Can't wait to get my hands on some new goodies cause mine are nearly two years old!!!
Congrats on being a new Demo!!! I am still thinking about being one here in Germany. I would love to but I am not sure what Newbies (and we have a lot here in Germany!!!) will say to those extreme prices even for us insiders they are way to high! So I am not sure if should give it a try. On the other side it would be great to be part of SU!'s start here in Europe since I LOVE their products.
Are the British prices also way high in comparison to the Dollar?
Yes they are high compared to US prices - but then nearly everything is. However, they aren't so bad compared to British prices for craft goods. You CAN buy cheaper British stamps etc - but you get what you pay for.
I too am from England but have been in Texas for nearly 8 years now - I got my SS number a month ago (yes, it really did take that long to become a 'person'!) and signed up as soon as I received it - yippeee :-)
Congrats! I'm still waiting for SU to get to my neck of the woods (=Finland).
BTW, do the European prices include tax and/or shipping? That would go some way to explain why everything's so much more expensive than in the US. I tried to check this from the online catalogs but couldn't find any info on it.
They include tax but not shipping. However, shipping is only 5% (minimum 3.95). All craft items are more expensive in England than in the States (well, not just craft items!).
I figured taxes must be included, but wanted to make sure. Good news about the shipping, too, although I guess that means it's better to do a few big orders than several smaller ones.
Go for the best you can afford, that's always been my motto.
Ack! I didn't see my typo until your response! I meant in the US. And, yes! I think that's a great motto! Works for more than stamps--wine, cheese, chocolate...

So have any of you UK SU Demos had much luck in creating any sales yet?
I don't think the whole hostess party plan thing is going to work as well over here as it does in the US. I've sent out loads of catalogues but have only had one order back yet. I'm not on track for my sales for the month which will be a bit worrying - and those sales figures are quite high!!!!
Maybe Christmas is getting in the way - and then after Christmas no-one will have any money left.
I've not got going properly yet as it's too hectic before Christmas but I understand lots of other UK demos are doing really well with lots of booking and lots of orders, so don't despair!
Hello Ladies, I am also a new UK demonstrator and I've been desperately seeking some other demonstrators to chat with. It will be nice once they have the SU forum set up.
I too am giving myself until January to have my first party, it's just too hectic around Christmas. Now I wish I had waited until January to start up.
By the way, I am a Canadian and have been using SU for about 5 years. We moved to the UK last January.
Hi Kimberlite - nice to "Meet" you - hopefully we'll get the demo site up soon. I've started up a stampinup blog which is where you'll find me once Christmas is out of the way.
Hello Ladies. I am a new Demo here in the UK. I have been using Stampin' Up! for about 8 years. I love it. I Lived in Texas too! I am from there! I moved here as my husband is from here and he decided it was time to move back. I am so thrilled to be a demo here. I think sales will pick up after the holidays. But we do have a demo blog here. stampingforreal.blogspot.com we have a closed demo blog as well but email Rachel Booth who is the manager of that one. It is great meeting other demos! I cannot believe how fast this is growing already!
