Question Please help me!

I was going to sign up as a demo without telling my husband, but with the encouragement of some smart friends I told him last night I wanted to do it. He is not convinced that he should let me do it, because I joined another company several years ago that he didn't want me to and I ended up eating alot of cash because I had to carry inventory. I tried telling him that this was very different and that I would not have to carry an inventory and that at some point if I didn't meet my minimums, which I don't see being a problem, that it would carry to the next quarter and if I didn't meet it then that I would just be out of it. No strings! I tried to tell him that I would have my $99 back after the first party that I already someone that wants to schedule next month. I need some words of wisdom, or any other positives that might help me sway him to a yes. I am sure that I am not the only one who has been up against this. Any suggestions are welcome!

If you are already buying $100 worth of stuff monthly from your demo, it is definitely worth it! The 20% discount is worth it alone for me and the access to all the info and publications is awesome, too. I am just a hobby demo, but I love it! I love being able to order stuff before everyone else, too!

If you think you can meet your quarterly requirement, then I say go for it! You might as well receive the benefits that go with being a demo.

I'm glad that you didn't do this behind your husband's back. That would have been deceitful and you would not have felt good about any of your success. I don't know what your finances are, but I'm assuming that he is working and you are at home. This makes it pretty tough. I wish you lots of luck in whatever you decide. Realize that for many, SU is an expensive hobby whether they are demo's or customers.

I think the biggest thing that swayed my husband was him seeing all the great things I did with the SU products. I save a lot of money on my childrens gifts for school and such.

Oh, and after my first 2 workshops, I was adding up the checks from orders (and it just so happened he was in the same room at the time - not by chance, either) and it was over $500. I think he realized then that it was worthwhile.

But, I also work outside the home and make more money than him He can't complain when I'm the one paying the bills. Wow - that sounds pretty pompous huh?

I do work full time and was hoping to just start out as a Hobby Demo. I have made all the kids teachers gifts and never buy a card anymore. He is just so leary of things like this and I don't know how to comfort that fear.

I am assuming you already have stamping things now, correct? Explain to him that not only would you get a discount on the things you already buy, but you will also have a chance to gain extra funds by making things for other people and hosting a party every once in a while. I would be a demo if I could meet the quaterly and had friends who were interested in it..its really a wonderful job!

I would be upfront about whether or not you are planning to make it a business or mostly hobby too! Also, let your DH know that even if you are just signing up as a hobby, you will get a discount. Maybe you can also make an agreement on how much you will spend, that could be part of what he is worried about. Just my opinion!
