My student teacher invited me to Pinterest in November, so I blame her for all the hours I spend pinning things!:p I went back through this thread and checked out what others were pinning--lots of great stuff! Here's me on Pinterest: Lianne Elstun (lelstun) on Pinterest
If you have any suggestions on finding the time to do all the cool things on Pinterest, let me know!
Does anyone know how to search for a person on pinterest? I can only search if they are on FB.
Thanks
I just figured this out today. Type the person's name into the search box and click search. It will bring up a bunch of pins. Right under the search box, it will say Pins, Boards, People. Click on People. That's how I found my friend from work on it. Good luck!
I just recently joined Pinterest and I love it. It's a great way to keep track of those awesome things I find and want to try, and there is no end to the inspiration out there! One thing I noticed is that some people will put the link to the forum, which only lets you see the details on the item if you're a member. That's not a bad thing, as it was my incentive to join SCS after several years of just lurking here and there. If I understand correctly, the link is supposed to take you to the person's blog, where you can see details on the item and enjoy other things that the blog owner has to offer. Now when I'm finished on Facebook, I can come here and go to Pinterest and completely fritter away my evenings:-) I'm gonna love this place.....
K- so I've wandered through some of the galleries and now realize there often isn't a blog linked to a card you like. Is it okay to link to the gallery then?
ladies i've been pinning like crazy! i love it. i have tons of questions. but i will start w/ my 2 biggies
1. how do i pin? not just repin.
2. how do i invite someone. my sister (not on SCS) wants to join.
thanks a bunch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would like to know how to pin from any website- someone mentioned getting a pin it link in my header.......
Also- I am now following everyone that has posted a link,.....LOL I am finding some amazing blogs and tutorials on Pintrest- I am loving this!
If I miss a day, is there a way to see older links- or do they just appear on the top if someone else re-pins them???
Shelly
Shelly, if you go to the Pinterest site and click on the "about' drop down that shows up on the tool bar at the top right hand side (right by your profile pic) you will see "help" as an option. Click there and you will find all kinds of useful information, including how to install the "Pin It' button. Hope that helps!
Hi Gayla - I don't know if you got an answer to inviting someone. If not, just point at your name and a drop down list appears. Click on invite friends and you can enter multiple e-mail addresses.
Your other question was answered above.
Enjoy!
Tracy
is there a way to hid a board? so only i can view it. i would like to save swap ideas w/o my local stampers seeing them
I can't see a way but maybe ask for it - as they are developing the site they are probably open to suggestions.
Like you, if say I were organizing something specific I wouldn't necessarily want all my followers to be able to see because I would like an element of surprise on the day.
Would also like an invite markacoss at centurytel dot net. Thank you!
Invite sent.
I'm also availabe to send invites if anyone else would like one; just PM me with your email address. I'm in Australia so in different time zone but online a lot.

I have asked them about having a private board or a privacy setting to a board. Maybe if others also ask they will see the potential need.
thanks-will do.
on to my next question. i got an email stating someone had recategorized one of my boards?
how?
why? and can i see what they did/
thanks
I see that often when I click on someone else's boards... there's a "popup" at the top that says "Help *** categorize this board."
I don't know if it's because they didn't do it (is that possible) to begin with, or if it doesn't seem to "match" the pins.
You can write to them at the bottom of the 'help' page and find out more... maybe the next time I see it, I'll do it and let you know if I find out anything interesting ;) .
franb63: If you go to "help" , in "Goodies" you'll see a Pin It Button that you can install in your toolbar. Then when you're hanging out on the internet and see something you like that you want to pin, you simply click on the "pin it" button. It will display for you all of the photos it 'sees' on that page and you click the one you want, assign it a board (or create a new board), add a description and pin it.
Once you get things going, you can "like" or "repin" others pins and even rearrange the order of your boards (remember to "save"!).
And usually if you click on a pin, it takes you to the source... or there's a link to the origin toward the right upper corner of the pin. HTH! Just play around with it and have fun
Is this better than just "bookmarking" sites on your browser (Firefox, IE). I'm just getting started in card making/scrapbooking, so I don't have anything to offer.
Should I ask for a pin? Thanks

I think it's better than just booking. I forget what I booked marked. This way you can see the picture of what you were saving. When you click on the picture, it takes you to the original website.
I have been pinning sketches and things that I like to inspire me in my scrapbooking (layouts, how' to's etc.), storage ideas, recipes I like.
