So the software got upgraded, and the cookbook looks....like it did before it was proofed. By that, I mean that there was a spot for your SCS name and a separate line for your "real name". Some folks did it in the same line and some folks only gave one name or the other. Which is fine-the look is just not uniform.
So, the question I am going to put to you folks reading is this:
Should I go back through the 546 recipes to make them "match" as best I can or leave it as is?
Pros and Cons of each:
Re-proofing: Will make V2 submissions look alike, but will take more time than the May 25 deadline I have given myself.
Leaving as is: No change in the time frame, obviously, but the recipes won't look uniform.
I have no strong opinion about this either way, I would just like some feedback for if you have the time to give it. Thanks!

I'm fine with just going with it as it is. It won't bother me that the submissions won't look alike. Plus, this has been such a huge undertaking for you already and I don't want you to have to go through too much more.
I agree with Lyn. You have already put in SO much work on this, Catie. I know you would be willing to go back and make the entries match. I just think most people will not care if they are perfectly uniform. Thank you, again, for taking on this monstrous task. I can't imagine how you've juggled everything!
Catie, I don't think it is an important enough issue to worry about. Uniformity would be nice, but I'd rather you NOT spend the time on it. I'd rather you give that DS of yours a big hug!
Just let the minutia go and give your head a rest! Who cares if everything is exactly alike? We just want the recipes! Thanks for taking on this MONUMENTAL task!! I want one of the cookbooks and would love to have version 1 if you do a reprint.

Catie, I trust YOUR judgment, since you are the one who has spent all their time on this forever! If we posted at the beginning of this thread that we wanted to buy one whenever it came out, will you be using those posts as your distribution list (once we've paid, of course), or will there be another thread to sign up? I personally think you could just start at thread 2 and get at least 100 names from this thread alone of people who have said they definitely want one. If you start a new thread, some of those early people may miss it.

Cookbook? Did someone say Cookbook? I love cookbooks and also collect them . How on earth did I miss a post about V1?? For sure this will keep me posted about Volume 2 ! I want a cookbook!
I have been patiently waiting since 12/06---POST #54---If I need to sign up on another thread, please tell me -- I don't want to miss out after all this time.
I just know this will be centerfold in my kitchen and I may not even open it--just LOOK at it. Crazy, huh!?
For CheriFurr-
I REALLY wanted to stay out of the money part of it. That's why I didn't collect any advance purchase payments. Money is ugly and it makes best friends fight. However-circumstances being what they are, I can see that I can't escape it. I honestly don't know HOW I will do it yet. Probably the same as last time with an initial Paypal only purchase, but really I don't know.
For Betty in KY-
There isn't another thread that I know of. This is the only one that I am aware of.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, other stuff-
About the Paypal option-
This in NO WAY excludes anyone from purchasing a cookbook if they want one. A very basic account with Paypal is free. Using this service, I have learned from my evilbay days, protects the seller and the purchaser. Plus, the buyer can track the package, when it's sent, etc. I will add the link later if that's the way I decide to go and I'm about 95% sure that it is.
About mailing out-
Since I will once again be doing this out of my house, I have recruited some free labor (The Boy-so really it's free child labor, but that's not really the point....). I will not make any claims, though, that it'll all be done in one day. Judging by the e-mails and PMs and posts here, I need to order, purchase, sign for, separate, mail and track at LEAST 750 of these babies. I can't imagine that I'll be able to get the sorting and mailing done in one day. I am hoping that everyone here will allow me a week or two to get it going. Alot of that will depend on how quickly the orders come in.
About pricing-
Some people have questioned why the book will cost what I want it to cost. I did research online and in-store at B & N and Borders-I actually think that when you add in factors like the number of recipes (546 is the final count), the options (cover, layout, etc), time for editing (no wonder there's a discount for doing it yourself! It takes forever!), and a host of other different variables-I think $20-$25 is MORE than reasonable.
There are a few folks who have expressed concern over the price. I imagine that, like last time, I will be asked to RAK some of the cookbooks to whomever has expressed as desire for one, but without the ability to do so. (Last cookbook, there were about 10 or so women who sent money with the note to do just that. Neat, huh? I would tell you their names, but I was told to keep it a secret.) So if you truly want one, I will find a way for you to get one.
Also, I have the 'premier' account with Paypal so that I can accept credit cards. This involves a fee for the transaction (again-the 'basic' account is free with no fees-but you are limited on your services. I'm really not explaining Paypal very well-I'll try better tomorrow.). So that is another reason for the price. I would just remind folks that all the proceeds are going to SCS.
About some financial matters-
I am exploring more economical alternatives should the money for the first printing run out. I think as it stands, with the 'extras', the discount for formating V2 myself, and some other options I have chosen (like the cover), I have enough money for 600 for the initial order. This, as you see, is a 150 book shortfall from what I think would move. Reprints aren't very cheap, so I have to mill that about in my head. I don't want to create an elitist book that only a few can have, especially as all the proceeds will come back here-which should be substantial as V2 will be 99% funded from the money from V1.
More about money-
The money from V1 has been languishing in a bank account for a few years. In hindsight-I should have invested it in a CD or something, but I'm not that great with the Benjamins. I just wanted it somewhere "safe". (I want to say a massive THANK YOU to girlygirl for her advice.)
I would like to plead PLEASE DO NOT SEND MONEY AT THIS TIME. The financial side isn't something I intended to do myself so I haven't settled on a way to do it. If you send me money now-I will send it back to you, minus the Paypal fee, and it will just delay your order and we will both be frustrated.
Wow. I had more to say than I thought. I still think I will be done here in about a week or so, so just hang tight. Noone wants this done more than I do.

I am so excited! I love the first one that I have. I can hardly wait for the second. If you need the money before you order them so everyone can get one then I am fine with sending the money before you order them. Cause I really, really, really want one.

Catie, Thanks again for taking this on. After the last issue I am surprised you were even willing to give it a thought.
Thank you
Stuffybaby
ps. I too will be waiting patiently for the go ahead on the orders......
;)
Twinklyn has volunteered to take on the gathering of names/addresses of those who would like to order a cookbook. Please PM her if you would like to get on this list.
Also-PLEASE give her time to get this list together. This is no small thing that she is doing for me, and last minute at that, so please respect her time and efforts.
Thank you to Lyn for taking on this massive job for the cookbook!
