I feel really bad now. I think the poor girl has other things to be concerned about and this has been pushed to a back burner. I just wish someone would say something to update us all. I have "pm'd" her a couple of times. and I've even tried to contact the moderators on this board with no luck.

Hello everyone.
I haven't been on for awhile. Got some things going on that I'm sure noone is interested in...and that sounded REALLY snarky. It wasn't meant to be and I apologize for that.
Anyway-I had a draft that I was REALLY unhappy with, so I went back to formula.
I told Jenn that I would update this in the morning since I have to go to work now. Thanks to those who have been patiently waiting and helping instead of burning me in effigy. Hee hee hee!!!

Miss you too Shanon!
OK. Here's the deal-io. I am getting V2 published through Morris and they have these REALLY cool features where OTHER people submit recipes and I can create the layout (this also saves money-thereby making MORE money for SCS). Only problem is, even though SCSers saved me a load of time by this method-I got a little arrogant in the layout process (Please? A tutorial? Who needs that? I got this!) So, the layout became...well...virtually unreadable. (I won't go into the ugly details, but Brandon at Morris is a total rock-star for putting up with me!)
But I'm getting ahead of myself.
I got all the recipes, all 533 of them, proofed. I tried really hard to gather all the recipes that somehow got deleted from V1 inside this issue too like I promised I would. Did some tweaking on some as requested by the submitters, and here we come, buddy!
I put the cookbook on hold for the Christmas holidays and then I got 2 full-time jobs for 3 months.
After I got smart and decided that 2 jobs was stupid-I got back to work. Layout time. I requested a proof and "What the.....?" It looked like crap. Actually, poo probably looks better.
Anyhoo-June came and went because it was busy in Omaha with that little thing called the College World Series, and as July rolls around, personal issues cropped up with my mom.
Things are back on track-Brandon tells me that I *probably* will like the proof that he is sending me.
Answers to some inquires, rants, etc are as follows...
I have been hesitant to commit to saying "It will be done by *insert date*" until I have a pretty definite idea of that date because, while it does get people excited, if something happens and that date comes and goes...then there is a rabid desire for my blood. I mean that with lots of love, but I still remember V1...and let's face it...I say this without rancor, but as an objective look at some of the posts in this thread...It. Is. Stressful. I remember last time getting hives just with the thought of getting into my mailbox or seeing a new thread about "Cookbook Questions" THAT said....
This is also the reason why I have not taken any preorders. It's all good until there is money involved because paying money and not seeing the goods is the best way to turn best friends into....not...best friends. And I didn't want, and still DON'T want, anyone to think that I'm trying to scam SCSers out of their hard earned money. The money that we made from V1 is funding the publishing of V2 so that V2 is sheer profit for Big D.
There is definitely an interest to the likes that I am in no way worried about a minimum order. I told Big D that I am interested in a first run of 500 and he thinks we can move 1000 (he's probably right!). So it's not a matter of interest. It's a matter of I need to stop acting like this can be put on the backburner for a minute and make it a code red priority. But I will also ask, again, that people just hang on for a small time longer because I want to get it right. I want this to be a cookbook that Big D is proud of. I want it to be something that I can say "Sweet Moses! That was worth it!" and I want SCSers to get it out and say "Double yee-haw! What can I make tonight?"
That is why you aren't holding it right now.
A side-note about Volume 1.....
I have probably 3-5 of them left. I am on the fence as to what to do with them and I will likely leave it up to Big D as to what to do with them. Sometimes I wonder if we could have an auction for the "proof" copy that Jan and I wrote notes in....Or an autographed copy.....
But that's just me being arrogant.

Thanks so much for the update Catie, it really does help being patient when we know you are mounting the hurdles to wrap this up. Wish I could help in some way. If you can think of someway I can please let me know. Well, that is help besides taking it all off your hand! LOL! You've got too much experience to do that!

Hi Catie,
Thanks for the update. I understand how stressful this is. V2 sounds like it will be great!
Thanks again,
Lyn
P.S. Ummmm I don't have V1, so if an auction or whateer doesn't happen - I would love to buy one!

WOW! Sounds really great and a lot of hard work. When will you start collecting money and about how much will they be? Ball park figure will be fine. How much was volume 1? That will give me a good enough idea.
Thank you,

I can't even imagine all the time spent trying to make this the absolute best and with all the "eyes" watching. I'm very excited and I think your right that you could run 1000 and be completely safe in selling them all. Just remember to keep breathing....it will all be good.

My vote is to auction them off and earn as much money as possible for the Big D so he can keep us ladies happy with this AWSOME site!!!

A VERY loose ballpark figure is $25.00.

Ok I just knocked one of these cookbooks out for our schools PTC and I am wondering how you are coming up with this price? Ours is only selling for 9.00. What kind of options are going to be in this cookbook? I wasn't here when you all sold vol. 1. I am just wondering. Also a word to the wise we had an overrun of 100 so you might want to take that into consideration when ordering. I wish we had. Now we have 1100 of these cookbooks to move. YIKES! Can't wait to see SCS one. I love cookbooks.

I also vote for auctioning off or selling raffle tickets on Version 1... Raffle tickets would give everyone a chance whereas a regular auction will only allow the most "wealthy" to have a chance. You could probably pull in more money by selling raffle tickets... Of course I have no clue about the legality of raffles for something like this... gambling?
I would also press the cookbook people for a better price. That's pretty steep for the amount of recipes in the book, even considering that this is a fundraiser. I don't think I've ever seen a community cookbook sell for that much, even those with more recipes.... if that price includes shipping, that's a bit better.
Thank you for all your hard work! You're almost to the finish line, so hang in there!

The price we settle on is going to include shipping and as I say that is a LOOSE number.
General specs of the cookbook are as follows:
3 ring
Hardcover
Custom cover
550 recipes (give or take-I think the actual count is 546 after adding the recipes from V1)
Tabbed dividers and index

Catie~ Thanks for the update and all your HARD work! I don't think that $25 is to much to ask, as it does include shipping.
I LOVE cookbooks, and I can't wait to get my hands on this one. Sounds like it is going to be REALLY nice!

Oh wow! Catie you've had quite the year. I'll be patient and wait awhile longer. Remember the reward is always sweet when the wait was long.
Thanks for all you've done and what work lies ahead.

Hey, I'l pay $25 for a cookbook! I'll even buy two! My bf RAK'd me with V1 and I want to do the same for her and she is worth at least that much!
Thank you so much for the update. I now realize that even though there was no word for awhile, there was still a lot going on behind the scenes. Thank you so much for all you do on this. I can't imagine how much of a toll this is taking on your personal life. You deserve a great reward!
Oh, one more thing: I think a raffle for the original is a great idea!

Thanks so much for the update!!
We do really appreciate the update!! Sounds like a nightmare for you!! We also appreciate your hard work. How about everyone who BUYS V2 goes into the raffle to also WIN a V1 (IF they don't already have a V1)??? I think that would be a great idea! Could you possibly start a new thread whenever its ready saying "V2 Cookbook Available and now Taking Orders" or somethig like that?? Just some suggestions, and thanks again for all your time and efforts.

Woo hoooo!
I knew Catie was just plugging along, working on a superior product. I've been patient, especially considering a couple of the recipes are mine! $25 sounds good to me, for the quality we're getting, with postage!
Until the new one comes out, here's a link to a great thread with 8 pages of posts of really cool, easy recipes: Forums at Splitcoaststampers
That ought to hold Deb in Maine till Vol. II comes out!
