Unfortunately, MS stuff has been on sale at my 2 local Michael's for the past 2 weeks for 30-40 percent off; so I couldn't use the 50 percent off coupon. Last week it was regular MS products, and this week it's the Halloween stuff (which I wanted anyway).

If you happen to have the 50% Martha Stewart coupon that was from the Oprah show, that coupon (might be the same one that is here on this thread) is supposed to override any existing sale that's going on. I used the 50% one from the Oprah show at my Michael's last week and instead of getting the 30% sale price, I got the 50% off. I even printed off the page from the Oprah site specifically stating that the coupon would override any existing sale in case there was a problem at checkout.
Yes I have tried to use my coupon for the last few weeks and they won't let me use it. It seems like Michael's knew about this coupon and didn't want to let us use it. I have since been taking my busniess else where.

I would send an email to Michaels corporate office with a cc to Martha Stewart. I was there tonight using the coupon and the girl was totally confused. They finally got the manager to override the pricing and she said "we'll do it this time, but we're not suppose to". I told her that's not true and the coupon is for 50% off the original price regardless of whether the item is on sale or not. I'm getting to the point where I'm really fed up with the poor training Michaels staff get. It makes me cranky and rude to people I don't even know and I certainly wasn't brought up like that. Michaels is just not interested in a good customer image as far as I'm concerned.
I used 2 of the 50% off coupons at Michaels for MS punches! They were not on sale but I printed the letter about the override and took that along anyway. Did not need it. Today - I went in with the 50% off coupon that was on the left side of the page for MS at Michaels ---of course the punch I wanted of the punch around the page leaf and vine was on clearance --so could not use it on that. I ended up finding the wrought iron fence punch that is Halloween and that was not on sale so could use the coupon on that. Love that punch---bats on the fence could be covered with flowers and used at any time of the year. No more coupons for MS......I am going broke!! And running out of storage room for punches!!
Thanks to you who posts the links to these coupons. My husband just updated our norton anti virus and all the ads have been blocked and no tweeting has helped.
I went at lunch yesterday and hit two of my local Michaels and used 6 of the 50% off on the new MS deep edge around the corner punch sets...Yikes..these are normally $32.99! Wow did I get a lot of nice sets...love these punches...
blessings.
My Michael's only allows one coupon per day too
I can use two coupons per visit on two different items if they are for different percentages, such as one for 50% off and one for 40% off
The store managers at different Michael's stores seem to make up the rules as they go along LOL
Recently I went into a Michael's in a town near me and they would NOT take two coupons even with different percentages off . Yet they do take them at my Michael's.
The two I normally go to will take 3 of the Michaels coupons at a time even if they are the same...and if you have a Joanns you can still use that too.
blessings.
Wow at my Michael's I can only use one coupon per day even if they are different.
Mine has become like that sometimes but it's more one coupon per transaction. So, depending on who's working, I can use one %off coupon as one customer transaction, pay that total, then stand there and suddenly become "another customer" and use another type of coupon. Mine won't let me use their little bonus coupons for an additional amount off of sale stuff (like an extra 20% off frames that are already on sale) if I'm also trying to use a 40% off one regular priced item coupon. Two totally different type of coupon, but they won't let me use both at once in one customer transaction. I really miss the use as many coupons as you wanted as long as they were different types of coupons. My JoAnn's will take as many coupons as long as they're different types. So, I tend to purchase staple items like adhesives and such at JoAnn's because I can do it all at one time.
So...I have a 50% off a MS item (good till 10/30, I think) and then I have a weekly 40% off one item...do you think I can use both in one visit? I guess I could use one of the coupons, and then maybe try to go back in and use the other....sound awful? I don't get to Michael's all that often as it's 1 an hour drive...

I think with Michaels, it all depends on the individual store manager's policies, how well the check-out people are trained (gee, do they really get any???) and the mood of the check-out person at the time. Mine used to be pretty consistent, then they got a new manager who even changed the policy several times in one day (one of the check-out people told me after I had a problem with the manager at check-out not honoring what I had read about corporate policy). So, I never know from one day to the next at my own local store what to expect, and it's always different than every other Michaels I've gone to (not one store has had the same coupon policies as the next one).

Interesting...thanks for the info...part of the problem in using the coupons is that the items I want are already on sale...oh well, guess I'll go "armed" with both of them and see what happens!
Yes, according to the 2010 Michaels policy that I have a copy of, you can use 1 % off anything coupon and 1 % off specific type of item in the same day.
