The stuff that is in the bins at the two El Paso stores.. aren't worth a quarter, much less a dollar. I think that they never got new stuff and was just keeping onto the old stuff. ~ Pam

I asked about it here in Nebraska because we have one store where they were $1.50 and the other store was still a dollar. One of the employees told me that they were test marketing a raise in prices. Boo! :o(
Needed some canvas so I finally got to my Michaels today. My local store has two big sections for the dollar stuff. One area is in a regular aisle. All that dollar stuff is either $1, $2, or $3. Then in another part of the store, they have the rolley type of carts with similar types of items, but the lowest price of those items is $1.50 - didn't really notice if they had coordinating things for the $2 or $3. I couldn't tell if they're transitioning to the newer, higher prices or not because part of the items in the regular aisle area was old stuff and part of it was new stuff. All the things in the rolly cart area were all new items. They had some cute stuff for someone who might be in need of items, but I have more than enough stuff and didn't give into temptation.
Micheal's isn't the only one. Our local store moved the prices up on the new "bargain bin" merchandise a while ago...even though our area is still struggling with economic downturn. But the JoAnn's nearby had the single clear stamps for a $1, but online, the same stamps were $1.19 to $1.98 depending. Glad I got most of them at the store for the cheaper price.
Yup-prices went up to $1.50 in our Springfield IL store. Actually it's been good for me- I think more about buying that stuff now that the price has gone up 50%-haven't bought a thing lately from the "dollar" bins.
I was just at Michael's in Mayfield Hts, OH and I didn't even see any $1 stamps. I am kinda glad they are raising the prices of those stamps. Maybe it will deter me from buying because those things multiply like rabbits!!!!
Speaking of Michaels, how many of you have the loyalty card at your stores? Our Michael's stores here still don't offer it, but if you have one, they will scan it so you get credit for your purchase (and whatever benefits you get from the card, which I really don't know about since I don't have one). The Michael's stores a few hours away from me offer it, so I am planning to get one when I travel next month so I can use it at my store.

I've never heard of the Michael's loyalty card. Hmmmm
Hi, I work at Michaels in PA. This is the first I'm hearing about the price of the dollar items going up. I hope they don't do that. The Vday stamps are really cute this year. We do not offer the loyalty card in our area. All I know is that your coupon will be loaded on it so you don't have to get one anymore. (I mean the 40% one.) I'll find out more.
I love Michael's Strores! Also glad to have a husband that is patient while I shop the dollar bins. Lolol. Going there tomorrow to check out the vid stamps
I've never heard of the Michael's loyalty card. Hmmmm
I was sent an email to sign up for their loyalty program, but haven't had the chance yet. They don't advertise the fact they even have a program in their stores so I forget whenever I'm browsing.

Anyone know any of the benefits?
I looked it up tonight and sure enough there is only one store in CA that participates in the loyalty program (no where close to where I live). Here is the link of the stores: https://michaelsrewardsmembers.com/StoreList.aspx
I live in San Diego,CA and the main michael's i shop has also went up to $1.50 but they still have certain items and stamps for $1.00.i want buy them for a $1.50 unless i REALLY like it. I have to make my craft budget stretch each month.LOL
You know I am kind of glad Michael's raised majority of their $1.00 bins to $1.50 (our's still has some $1 items in a separate bin). It is making me think twice before I just toss it into my basket. Majority of those items I really don't need.
I noticed that this weekend the $1.50 items were marked down to $1 & they were mostly the newer stuff not those that had been around and were closeouts. Wonder if their 50% increase isn't working that well for them?
Joann has a special card if you are an educator.. I think it is 20% off one order and then a certain percent after that... it is nice and makes me go there before Michaels.
When I was in Indianapolis for Spring Break, I went into a Michaels (HAD to use my 40% coupon!) and they had a bunch of their dollar bins marked down to 10 cents. When I cashed out, they all rang up for *** one cent each!!!*** Talk about a score! I was so psyched! I used my 40% coupon on a Copic, and bought 10 dollar bin crocheted flowers, flourish rhinstones, regular rhineston packs, and some Prima-like flowers. Total = $5.04 with tax! Can't beat that!
