OK, I just got back from my Michael's in Southern NJ. What is that proverb.....she who expects nothing will not be disappointed? I only had a few items (because the store was so empty it looked like it was closing). The coupon scanned 40% off one item, then the cashier did an override, intending to give me 40% off the entire purchase. (I drew in my breath....) It still only took 40% off one item. She didn't notice, and I didn't bother protesting.
The store had no Halloween stamps, no new regular stamps, lots of empty shelves. I guess they will restock soon. I looked at some Martha stuff, the pricing seemed all screwed up on the punches. I didn't get anything, because I figured after reading this thread that the coupon wasn't going to work. THANK YOU so much for posting it for us, though! It was so nice of you to share!
I printed the coupon before it was fixed and I'm hoping to get to Michaels tomorrow. If they accept it as printed, I'll be VERY happy. But if not, I'll still be happy to get 40% off one item, probably a MS punch.
I printed mine before it was changed too and used it Tuesday. It only took 40% off one item then the clerk called the manager and he told her how to override it and take 40% off the entire order. It worked! Yeah!!
Well, I just got back from an excursion to M's. The lady said the coupon was valid, but when I checked out, she scanned it & the register took 40% off one item. From what others said in this thread, I figured that was going to happen, so I didn't buy much.
WOW...I printed it out when it was 40% off entire purchase and this morning I bought 10 bottles of MS glitter. I'm going through a huge glitter phase right now!! I now just noticed what you guys were saying about the coupon error. I got a great deal! That's rare!!!!
Anyone have one that they could fax to me that is for the entire purchase? I really have a list to get and that would help. PM me for my number ...

Just got back from Michaels. I had printed the coupon before they changed it so I was ready to tell them that it was for the entire purchase. When I got up to the check-out I told the lady working there that the 40% off was for the entire purchase. When she scanned the coupon at the end it wouldn't take 40% off the entire purchase-only one item. With out even calling the manager she gave me 40% off EVERYTHING it bought, even the new Martha Stewart Halloween punches, which were "buy one get one at 50% off." I also got that discount!!! If I would have known it was going to be that easy I would have purchased more! They also have the shimmery bridal flowers in the tins in orange! Great for fall cards!

The 40% off entire purchase seems to have been an error. The original link was to the Michael's site and the code has now been changed to 40% off one item. The barcode has not changed, it seems it was always intended to only be 40% off one item as that is the standard barcode # for 40% off one item.

Exactly. The one I have "says" 40% off entire purchase but it rang up off 1 single item. That's 1 item yesterday, 1 item today, 1 item tomorrow .....
I printed the coupon before it was changed and the Michaels by my work accepted the coupon as printed. It only scanned as 40% off 1 item, but I pointed it out to the clerk and she just took the 40% off my entire purchase.
I just got back from Michaels...do you know that now they will take two Michaels coupons on the same order if they are different? Like I used the 40% off one item AND the 20% off the entire order? I didnt even ask them to. I just had the two coupons in my hand and the lady said you can use both of those coupons...So I did...Love that...

Has anyone gotten the full 40% off everything?
I printed it up before they changed it and just got back from my local Mike's. The store had a disclaimer near the registers stating the error, apologizes for not allowing 40% off the entire purchase, etc. It was hand written though, so maybe someone had tipped this store off and some Mike's don't know yet.
When I got there, and it took off one item, I just said nicely that the coupon said "entire order". BOTH times (yesterday and today) they fixed it and gave me 40% off everything. I took advantage of the sitch to get those little things you would never use a coupon on (microbeads, TTT, embossing powder, ribbons, stick on gems, a Big Shot crease pad, and a set of new Big Shot cutting pads...)
Between the two days, I saved over $50. Yeah!!!!
Just so you guys know that according to Michaels Corporate Office every Michaels received an email telling them that they HAVE to honor the mistake coupon if you have it. They have to ring up each item and then take the discount off manually. They CAN NOT scan it at the end. It only takes it off one item. There is a huge discussion about this topic on the Cricut Board. My mom and I each used one yesterday and I am going to another Michaels today. We got 40% off the ENTIRE order.
Thanks for the coupon link. I used it today although I did NOT print it out before they changed it to a single item . . . I bought one of the new Martha Stewart Halloween punches though . . .I had another punch in my hand that I've wanted for a few months and then dropped it like a hot potato when I saw the endcap . . . cute stuff!!! Kind of bummed I didn't get 40% off the entire purchase because I had a few gifts to buy.
If anyone still has the 40% off ENTIRE purchase coupon, I'd love a copy, too, please. Mine only comes up as 40% off ONE item. Which is better than nothing, but I'd love to save a ton, LOL! Thanks so much! [email protected]
Ladies since we all have computers go to the Michaels website and sign up for notification of discount coupons. I no longer look in the newspapers anymore I just check online! Received my notification today 40% off coupong (for 1 reg priced item) and its good thru the 30th. Print as many as you like!
I've used it at 3 different Michael's and receive it off the entire order at each one. They usually have to call a manager over to do the override but the managers are aware of it.

I got 40% off everything tonight (Friday)! I had printed the coupon several days ago but didn't get to Michaels until tonight. I knew when the clerk gave me the total that it wasn't correct. She explained that the coupon had been taken down from the website because it was an error on Michaels' part, but they had been told to honor any that came in. They were really nice about it, actually. The clerk had to call for a manager to void the entire first receipt. Then she had to ring up each item again and take 40% off each item separately, then attach the coupon to my receipt so that when they count their registers they will know why she took 40% off each item.
My Michael's also honored the 40% off the entire total. The manager said I got lucky as the coupon was posted in error. The cashier rang in a special code at the end to deduct the 40%. I bought Prismacolor pencils and their company is having a rebate of $10- off a $50- purchase. So, $98 worth of prismas cost me $58 AND i'm getting a $10- rebate. Gotta love that!!
My Michael's gave me 40% off of everything, including the sale items I had. I'm tempted to see if I could get some PC stuff by them, but not sure it's worth the trip... lol.
I used (one of) mine today and I got 40% off everything! I told the lady I kinda feel guilty, gaining from someone else's error. But she said, "Ehh, don't worry about it. You're only the 3rd person we've had come in with the coupon". I spent $158, but it would have been $263!!!!! Wowsers!
This could be considered coupon fraud as Michaels has already changed it to 40% off one item. If you bring this to the store, it's doubtful that Michaels will honor it. (Especially since the scan looks like a xerox copy of a print out. And it could prove to be embarrassing). They will likely have a disclaimer in the store by the morning stating that the correct coupon is 40% off one regular priced item and not honor (as others have found) the 40% off purchase of regular priced items.
When I printed the coupon earlier, and brought it to the store it scanned as 40% off ONE item (which is what the coupon states now). I didn't have much, so when the manager wasn't willing to change it to 40% off total order I didn't make a stink. The other items I had weren't high value so it wasn't worth a fight. The other girl said there was coupon error and the barcode was the same as the one for 40% off one item so that was all they could do.
I don't think she copied it for us to use it, just so that we could see that there was truly a coupon that said 40% off your entire purchase.
I really dont think its 40% the whole purchase, its one item only. At least, at my stores anyways:(

I was so very surprised that they honored this coupon. In fact, I handed her the coupon and did not say a word and she said, "this coupon is off the entire purchase. This was the mistake that was made on the internet" She proceeded to take everything out of my bag and return it and rang it up at 40% off. I asked her what she was doing and she said that they were instructed to honor the coupon in the written content at that store. Lucky me! I did tell her thanks for doing this and that I knew what the coupon said but was not going to make a huge deal out of it. My purchases were not huge ones and I think she knew I was not stock piling big ticket items and plus I am in there 2-3 times a week on some weeks so they know me there.
My Michael's also honored the coupon (I made sure I asked first). They were very nice about it. There was some initial confusion with the gal at the register (she thought she could ring the 40% off at the end) but I kept asking and then the manager overheard and walked over and told her she had to do each item individually. She said she had received quite a few of the these coupons and had only been taking the 40% at the end. Apparently no one else said anything.
Then I went to AC Moore and again specifically asked whether they were taking Michael's coupons and they said yes, but then when I got to the register, all of a sudden the story changed. They said they would only give me 40% off one item (and it had nothing to do with the coupon being a "misprint"). They said they couldn't possibly honor that coupon. Apparently, they only take Michael's coupons when it's not too much off. Lately I have been very disappointed with AC Moore and this didn't improve my impression.
