Just went to my local Michaels and found that Martha's Christmas and New Year's punches were marked down 50%. I was able to use 40% coupons on most of them to get them for $4.79 - $5.99. Had one 50% coupon so that $9.99 punch was only $4.99!
I got the Joy, Cheers, and Presents border punches as well as the large Flute & Bubbles punch. In addition I got a 50% coupon for next week. Now that's a good deal.

So you get to use coupons on clearance items? Our Mike's won't let us and Martha stuff is also a no-no for coupons. And we can't use multiple coupons either. So if I have a 40% coupon, I can't use a 50% coupon too on another item. It's one coupon per day/per visit here.
Wow..I was just in my Mike's last night & didn't see it marked down. I may have to check again. Also, I'm amazed that they accepted a coupon on top of a marked down item..unless it's one of those additional off (including sale items).

I just got the hot chocolate punch from the holiday end cap, and it was not marked down. And of course, I forgot my coupon at home! But I'm happy to have that cute punch -- I know if I waited to get it, it would probably be gone!
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ... I was at M's last night around 8:00 CST. There were no Martha punches on sale .. thankfully I didn't have my heart set on one ... whew!
I wonder if sometimes it doesn't depend on the store manager and when they decide to mark them. I bought something at our grocery store I'd been eyeing in their home goods section. I saw it marked down to 1/2 off with only one left. I called another store to see how many they had as I wanted another one and they told me exactly that. The manger doesn't get around to marking the items down when the home office says so. I wonder if that isn't the case with some of these M's managers too.
I agree, I bet it depends on the store manager. My M's wasn't in the markdown mood yet either but there were some good clearances on certain clear stamps. I'm in Anderson, SC...btw
I think that is the case. Also, each area of the country maybe has a different timeline. I used to work in retail for 13 yrs and the store I was in would mark things down the day we got the 'word' but the stores in other regions would wait till the 15th of the month to do mark-downs... just a quirk of that regional managers. The M's in our area are VERY picky on coupons. You cannot use coupons on marked down items, ANY Cricut or Slice item... whereas the M's that is in the county north of me will let you use coupons on Cricut cutting mats. Same thing with Martha stuff... It must be on how the wind blows and what's in the water at the time....
FYI....I work at Michaels and we just were told that we now have a new coupon policy. We CAN take multiple M's coupons as long as they have DIFFERENT bar codes....this means we can take an ad coupon, an email coupon and a register coupon all in the same transaction! Plus, we can take a competitor coupon at the same time too....but only one each of a competitor's coupon.
I live in Ohio and we were told this about 2 weeks ago.
As for coupons on clearance stuff.....we are not "suppose" to let customers use a coupon with clearance stuff. BUT, the thing is, the register will take it off a clearance item(it automaticly takes it off the highest priced item not on sale and apparently clearance items don't come up as "on sale").....the cashiers are suppose to know to scan the coupon before any clearance item. Honestly, the majority of cashiers don't really pay attention to the items as we scan them.....and we can't know every items that is on clearance in the store.
Hey Squirter, Can you tell your manager to have the regional inform the stores in southern Maryland? (Charles and St. Mary's county) Tried to do the multiple coupon thing yesterday before our snow hit and it was a 'no go'. Also, they still aren't letting us use them on Martha stuff. :(

is this policy just going to be for the year end inventory clearance. It does seem,
policies vary in different areas. Tomorrow, I will have to try a competitors coupon

I'm gonna take my additional 15% coupon (including sales stuff) from today's paper & see if my Michaels marked down any Martha Stewart Christmas items today. The special sale w/coupon starts at 4pm. Hope I find some new treasures!

Yah know...I work with someone who is from Maryland. I will have to ask her to find out about this....I know just from things she tells me that things are different at her "home" store. But this new policy came from corporate....so it should apply to ALL stores. Are you sure you tried using different types of Michaels coupons.....1 register coupon, 1 newspaper coupon and one e-mail cooupon??? We can't take 3 of the SAME coupon. I should swipe the policy and bring it home to tell you guys exactly how it is worded. I want to call the Michaels number and ask THEM about this. I did that once before....I heard something here on Splitcoast that our store wasn't doing so I called and asked.
ALSO! On the coupon it does NOT say Martha Stewart crafts are excluded.....at least on ours up here. Read your coupon and if it doesn't say that Martha is excluded I do not see how they can say that they don't take coupons on that stuff....unless it is on sale. None of our coupons will come off SALE items.
I just looked at my e-mail coupons and someone else's who posted a 40% here on splitcoast....neither of them say Martha is excluded. I know mine fromthe newspaer ad do not say Martha is excluded.
This is what we must do......Call corporate and ask!!! Question this!! Ask about the different Michaels coupon policy!!!! Tell them that your store doesn't do what other stores do. If you get a survey (with your register reciept) take the survey and tell them this!!!!!
Would the coupon policy really be different in different parts of the country?? That would be stupid......

I work for Michaels in Canada, the policies are the same as the states, so I will enlighten you... Martha used to be excluded on coupons and it WAS on the fine print but then about a year after Michaels started carrying the line she was taken off the fine print. You are aloud to use coupons on Martha products (as long as it is not on sale).
As for the multiple coupons. You CAN use different coupons (like squirter said) If your michaels doesn't allow you to use the multiple coupons ask to speak to the manager and request to see their coupon policy. There is one and it says right on it that you can use different coupons (1 newspaper, 1 emailed, 1 receipt coupon).
It is true... we aren't supposed to use coupons on clearance items but the registers will automatically take the coupon off the most expensive item.
OK, I just got back from Michael's, and there were a few Christmas punches marked down, but not the little cardinal I wanted. I figured I would use my 50% coupon, but when I got to the register, it rang up as $5.99. Woohoo!
So I used my coupon on a double deck of Cosmo Cricket paper (Boyfriend/Earth Love) which was marked down from $20 to $10...so it ended up to be $5. Woohoo! Plus I have 2 weeks of vacation to make cards!
I know that our M's computer system will not apply a coupon to a sale or clearance items. However, there were some exceptions. It requires using the store scanners to figure it out, and my store scanners have not been working since July. Ughh! If an item scans as if it is normal price, the computer will apply the coupon. Normal prices are usually in green and sale and clearance items are in red. I think it depends on how the store entered the clearance item into their system whether or not it comes up green or red.
Thanks for the heads up on multiple coupons. I will have to give a try once I have multiple sources. I rarely get to use my M's discount card because they won't let me use it if I am using a coupon in my purchase. I think that is ridiculous. Does that not say that I am a dedicated customer since I had to purchase the discount card? Might see if they finally changed that annoying policy.
Ok, this is not about MS Christmas stuff..but I was at Michae's yesterday and a lot of their Christmas stuff was marked down 80%...they had it in a special area near the back..I got a really cute Hero Arts clear set of Christmas owls for 3.18!! It had been 14.99...couldn't pass that up...I'll put it away for next year and will have fun making tags, cards etc.
I was at M today. I got a large nativity stamp that was originally $12.99, marked down to $6.99. When the clerk rang it up it was $2.59! Yippee!! I know what my cards are going to be for next year.
I picked up the loopy border edge and corner punch for $7! I picked up a few others for $3 each. They were not marked as clearance but they rang up that way at the register.
I have bought several MS punches at Michael's in Canada. The MS seasonal punches were not marked on sale but when I took them to the cashier, they came up at 70% off. What a deal. I bought lots of them at different M's stores.

I just got back from our Michaels and was pretty frustrated. They had a sign in front of the Martha Stewart punches saying Reg. 12.99 not 3.79 and Reg. 15.99 now 4.89. I thought great I scored and brought up what they had left minus a couple of cheers punches. Well only one rang up at $4.89...the Joy punch. The rest were ringing up at 9.99 and I was told that that was the price for them. Now they are in the holiday box and all, and I told them that they are normally the 12.99 punches so they should be the 3.79. Well they said that they couldn't change the price. Needless to say I did not get any of them. Our Michaels can never get there act togather. They said it comes down from corporate. I asked why then are alot of the other Michaels sale them for the cheaper price....they had notheing to say. I think that I just might send an email off to corporate and see what happens.
i also found many at 70 % off But too my surprise I found Santa collage stamp by Stampedeous It was 7.99 marked down to 2.69 I have been looking for that stamps for a few years now - Lucky day for me !
I went to one of our Big Box Stores at lunch yesterday and scored all the new $1.00 valentine stamps. I saw some of the NEW border type punches on the rack with the Christmas clearance and I thought ok..$5.99 is a good price. I got to the register and it rang up at $3.98. That was an awesome deal. I was able to snag some of the new MS punches too. the cashier let me ring them all up seperately so I could use the 40% off coupons on them. What a great day. Blessings.
