Even being on vacation isn't even keeping me away!
Okay so I finally had the chance to stamp out what I got out of my Lot 2, which were only Christmas stamps...well I only stamped a handful but was SO impressed! I mean I have seen what has been posted but still!
Now I just linted up the permanent side and used them on acrylic blocks...they were REALLY suck when I left them on a minute too long...careful!
In responce to stamping with just what we get...I think that would only work with a tiny stamp, otherwise I had issues getting a good stamp!
So...just wondering...how many of you are mounting them on wood? And how many will be using some method for acrylic blocks?
Im mounting on wood the ones I think I will use most often
and the rest will be put away to use with acrylic mounts.
I just ordered some acrylics from http://www.smartrubber.com/
Anyone else buy the current grab bag...I am waiting for mine...I am dying of curosity! What all is IN there???

Thanks to all of you! FIRST I ordered and received lot 1 and THEN I was annoyed at the sticky cling and THEN you all solved that problem too (with a little more shopping of course!) I like unmounted stamps, but the sticky cling on these is the Mike's $1 stamp stuff that does not unmount well. I ordered the cling from Viva Las Vegas! Thanks for of your excellent enabling!
I was reading this post and then thought, why couldn't I just paint some Arleens Tack It Over on top of the glue that was already there. Do you think that would work? I really don't want to mount them on wood, but I don't want them permanently stuck to my acrylic blocks either!
By the way, I just received my mixed lot today and haven't had time to look at them yet. Can't wait until I get home from work!

Try it on the one you like the least and let us know.

I love wood. And I got the motherlode of assorted wood blocks (as in 5 crates) when RiverCity Rubberworks had their warehouse clearance. OK, so I have to sand an edge every so often, but rubbing a little sandpaper over an edge ain't tough work! ( I paid $10 for those 5 crates- each bigger than a copier paper box, and full! They were using them to burn in their chiminea!!!) I can wood mount until I die. And I got great foam from Jim Stephens on ebay. So, I'm set to mount anything I buy. That said, have I mounted any of lot 2 yet? Well, uh, no. But I will.........
Just got an email that my gb ships tomorrow! Yawhoo!
I think I am going to use tac it over on mine too...

I got my Lot #1 and as far as I could tell, I got at least 16 of the same stamps in Lot #2......my free stuff this time was a set of Sizzix clear stamps and the clear stamp that says "LETTERS". I still think these stamps were well worth the price!
I also received my Lot #1 today. I haven't compared with Lot 2 yet but it doesn't matter if there are duplicates 'cause it has been a great bargain for quality rubber stamps; and my free stuff was the same as Terry's.

I brushed baby powder to un-stick the adhesive on Lot #1. Then I've tried a couple different things. I painted a thin layer of TIO directly on a few stamps. It works well but is time consuming. I can then store the stamps om page protectors or something like that.
I also painted a thin layer of TIO directly to some acrylic blocks. I like this alot. But I can see where the blocks will get really dirty over time. It also means finding a different way of storing the stamps.
I also have Lot #2 to deal with. 200 is a lot of stamps - LOL! Don't know which way I will ultimately choose to store all these stamps. I'm curious to know what others are doing.
Diane, have you looked at the TIO&O spray? I'm sure it's more expensive to use than the regular glue, but SO much more convenient when you're trying to do a whole bunch of um's at once!

I didn't know that even existed! Where did you find it?

I got my Lot#1 today also. Like those above, I got LOTS of duplicates. Will be listing these on the SCS Buy/Sell board. Also got lots of wedding type stamps which I don't see that I will be using.
I'm not gonna do much in the way of mounting mine. I'm gonna peel the paper off the stamp, tap it on my jeans a little to pick up a little lint, then just use on acrylic stamps as I need them. I'll either put the paper back on when finished, or store in a cd case. Hope this helps. Karen

Wow! What a fantastic idea!:p

I'm off to my sisters to cut wood for a few more of my blocks. I think I"ll mount everything but the letters. They are a gift and I think she'll like them better unmounted.

Congrats! Go back and read this whole thread. There are quite a few suggestions.

I finally got my wood blocks to mount some of the stamps I think I will use most often.
I bought clear contact paper to stamp my images for those that are being mounted.
Here is what Im thinking....
1. Stamp the image on the contact paper and stick on the wood
2. Stamp directly on the wood and leave as is
3. Stamp directly on the wood and cover it with the clear contact to protect it.
What do you all recommend???
AND....what ink should I use to stamp on the wood and/or the contact paper.
I got my Lot mix of the 1 and 2 I suppose it is.....and I really liked what I got...I got trips of 1 stamp and doubles of 2 others...I don't know what to do with them...some are very warped..how would i flatten them out...?

I would use stazon so it will be permanent...just heat set to dry or leave it and let it dry on it own for about 30 minutes.

I've done the contact paper before. What you do is stamp directly on the contact paper with STAZON ink. Let it dry a few minutes, trim the contact paper to the size of the block and adhere it right to the top of the wood block. It is the best way I've found to label the stamps. Works great!

I agree. Use Stazon Ink on the contact paper. I used no heat lamination paper, and it is about the same. I just laid my block down on the paper, drew around it on the paper part that you peel off, cut out, then stamped with Stazon on the clear side, let dry a few minutes, peel off the backing, and stick to the wood. Worked GREAT!

I got my Mixed Lot a couple of days ago. Lots of great stamps, a couple of duplicates but once I counted the stamps, the dup's were actually extras. The freebies were a black ink pad and a black ink spot....one can never have enough black ink!!!!!
I missed out on lots #1 and 2 but am very happy with these! Thre is a great variety of "themes", xmas, easter, travel, mothers day, wedding, old fashion women (for lack of a better explanation), spring and flowers, and lots of sentiments. I have to say that once I started stamping them on paper I was pretty impressed with the quality. And, those curly stamps..,..they stuck just fine to my acrylic block then I removed the stamp and put the paper backing back on the stamp, viola.
I hope you all enjoy as much as I am/plan to!
Diana
I guess all the thrill on this thread is dying down...how sad to come and only see a couple posts in almost a whole day...I suppose there is only so much to say...but remember I think a few of us are stil waiting on these boxes are our Xmas gifts SO maybe this thread will need to come alive again after the holidays!
Maybe I will have Lot 1 home tomorrow? We shall see!
I got my mixed lot today, pretty fast shipping considering the holiday. From what I could see, I only had 2 dups and 102 stamps. I measured them all for what size blocks and my dad spent his afternoon cutting about 50 of them. I was looking for a great holiday stamp to use for a swap and there it was. Well worth the $24 (priority shipping)
I received my package today. I'm really happy with it. Some that I won't use and some dups...but lots of good stuff. Well worth the money. Now I'm with everyone else...how to mount (or not mount) them is going to be an issue.
I hope that some of you are still reading this thread...I got a set and before I read all of the information on this thread I mounted several of them on EZ Mount without first removing the cusion already on them. My question is, do I need to undo what I did or will the double cusion be ok?

Double cushion should be fine, especially for the large stamps. You may have trouble "rocking the image" with that much cushion when using the small stamps. Just try a practice image on scrap paper to get the feel of using the stamps, and I am positive you'll do fine and get nice images.
