I really want to become a demonstrator but I am so fearful of not being able to get customers. It seems like all of my friends from work, church, etc have no interest so I am not sure how to get started. Any tips??
I didn't think anyone would be interested either, so I hosted an Openhouse-type workshop in my home for the first order. I invited people from work, church, etc. I had about 7 people come, and had a few outside orders...first workshop was about $800! Plus, several people who came just to be nice ended up booking a workshop! Just show them the product, let them make stuff, and it literally sells itself! People don't know what they're missing until they get it into their hands. Go ahead and do it!

i agree, i think a stamp club would be a good start. once word gets around and your girls start sharing their creations and excitement you will be in like flint! go for it!
DOn't be afraid. I sent you a cheerleaderish PM, LOL. But just try to work at it. Once you get a *FEW* new customers, you encourage them to "bring a friend" and before long you'll network into people you never would have met before.
I signed up in November and am only having my first workshop next week. I took the view that I wanted the stuff and would cover for a year so I could buy all my inks, refills, papers and pens. Then if it doesn't work, I've got the expensive stuff and can get stamp sets as and when. My friend (a former demo) is the one having the workshop and I honestly don't know how it will be. I'm really hoping that I can get something out of it. I'm not happy with the thought of doing the demo itself as I've never even been to one prior to signing up! Oh, well.
Good luck whatever you decide to do.
Thank you guys so much....I just need to take the plunge and if it fails then oh well. I've got plenty to get myself started. Thanks for the encouragement!!!
Go for it! I just hosted a show because I brought some of my cards to my Sunday school class and had people telling me they wanted to learn how to do that. I work fulltime and had the book on my desk and two women asked me about it and I got $100 in orders! You'll be surprised. I was so amazed that I just turned in my paperwork yesterday and someone from my show booked a party! Once you plug in - the products sell themselves. Good luck.

I think that is the same thing that a lot of people worry about when signing up for SU! I know that it was for me! Sometimes it works out good for me, and sometimes it doesn't. Just keep your head up and try try try!
Hi Ladies..I'm thinking of becoming a demonstrator, but like some of the ladies on this board, I am scared to death!! My friend is a demonstrator and I'm just afraid that I'm going to run out of people to sell to!
Another question...if I do become a demonstrator, how much profit is made? What if I don't make the quarterly sales? None of these questions are answered on the SU website!
I have been thinking about it too, but I am concerned there isn't room for me in my area cuz there is already a rep and I don't want to take her costomers, and I am new here and don't know any one. I think right now the cards are staced against me. Good luck what ever you decide, this stuff is so cute and fun it really does sell its self!
I have been stamping since 2004 and have been debating off & on on whether I should be a demonstrator or not. This past November I finally decided to take the leap. I thought, even if I dont have customers, I still get a 20% discount on the items I am purchasing for myself! So that alone was worth it. My very first order was mostly my stuff (I had a co-worker order something too) but I ended up saving almost $100 myself in what I ordered!
Try it, and if it doesnt work out, oh well, at least you tried! Better to have tried and failed than to not try at all!
Good luck... and as in Peter Pan "Think happy (stampin) thoughts!!"
I just signed up; haven't got my starter kit yet. I have a friend that I have been stamping with for a bit. She is doing a workshop in a couple of weeks and has got a bunch of her friends interested just by showing her stuff we have made. Just from that I have two more people that want to have a workshop. I just signed up to save money and maybe do a workshop here and there. I work full time and am just doing this for a hobby. Like everyone says, they really sale themselves. When people see what they can create, they will want to order more.
Go for it!! It's so exciting. I am having so much fun. Of course if UPS doesn't hurry up and get my package here; I am going to start following their trucks until I find it. LOL
