I found it strange too. Still, not sure if it is wortht he gas to drive to Archivers to take a looksie as I don't recall anything that I really wanted on my last trips.
GOSH, cuppymouse, I didn't think of that! I have only been to Archiver's a half dozen times since the first time about 1-1/2 years ago, so I wasn't really familiar with whether this is an annual event or something.
It's a 2-hour drive for me, marimoose. I can't make it tomorrow anyway but I briefly entertained the idea and mentioned it to DH jokingly - and the fact that it would cost more in gas money than what I'd save. He said, "Well that depends on how many stamps you buy." LOL!! Practically an invitation to go wild, so it's a good thing I can't go anyway! I'll make up for it with an A Muse order, I think .
Wow...I was in Archiver's last Friday in Madison, WI and there was absolutely no mention of this sale. I did get a flyer that had an ad for an Aug. 8 sale that had a coupon for $3 off a tool. I'm going to see if I still have it and see if this other sale is mentioned. I do LOVE this store and hope they are not struggling. I live more than an hour away so I don't get there real often. Yet, when I do (every other month or so) I do usually use a coupon and also buy CS to get the matching free paper. It may not be SU quality, but the Bazzil is good stuff. I love looking at all the card samples for ideas and if I am wondering about a specific tool, they'll usually give you a demo. GREAT STORE to be sure! Let's hope all is well.
I went this morning and the store had quite a few people loading up on stamps. I didn't think to ask why they were having this sale. Anyway, $172 dollars later, I now have 21 new stamps. My receipt says I saved $97 but, my wallet is still gasping for air. Now I just need to find the time to use them all. lol
My Archivers has loads of items I love, however it was such short notice that I can't go there . . .unfortunately. They have Bella stamps and Tim Holts, and lots more. They don't act like they are in need Maybe they just wanted to get rid of some older stamps. This is unusual for them They don't give 40% off of nothing.
I agree they never have great sales. I bought some Unity Stamp sets today because I saved $10 each on them. I usually wait for coupons or sales to buy the expensive sets.
No disrespect to Archiver's----I like the store and occasionally buy stuff there----but really. One has to wonder what this is all about? The store/items are clearly priced higher then other store's who ALWAYS have 40 and 50% off coupons.
I'm scratching my head on this one. Are they realizing they have to do 40% off to compete with other store's???
So no running shoes needed from my house to the sale! LOL
I went to this at the Madison, Wisconsin, store today. The employee who let me in (I was there before the door was unlocked incredibly) said that they just had so much new stuff.

The place was definitely hopping when I left.
Wow...and I was there on the 5th. I did get a stamp too, a Unity BG distressed dots. Love it! Glad you were able to enjoy a fantastic deal on stamps. This had to be quite the fun time shopping...maybe it's good that I wasn't there, as I would have spent A LOT!
I got the email, too, and unfortunately don't have an Archiver's anywhere close to me. I had just spent a week at my parents' and they have one like 15 minutes drive from their house. It just figured that they'd have the sale right after I left! Since I like to see the items in person whenever possible and I don't have much of anything available to me locally, I love when I'm visiting places that do have the items. Just wish the sale had been while I was there! (although my wallet would have been crying the blues).
Wow. They NEVER have sales. Don't get me wrong ... I love their store but only go there for things that I can't find at Michaels or Joanne's on sale. I appreciate their business but they are very expensive.

Oooops! Sounds like you found "somthing" you loved! ;)
There are a couple in Texas ... closest is about 4 hours+ away? I'll probably stay home. Thanks for the heads up, though!

I was at the same store, and I don't think they had that much new stuff. It was definitely hopping after work that night, and the woman ahead of me spent $192. eek! I didn't go crazy with my purchase - it's easier to buy it when you can buy multiples, but otherwise I'm ok with buying things one at a time with the coupon - but I only live 8 minutes away or so, so I can understand the excitement for those who have a harder time using all those weekly coupons.

Sorry, I was unclear. I meant that she said they were having the sale to make room for the heaps of new stuff. I personally only noticed a couple of things that weren't there the last time I made the trip all the way to Middleton (boohoo, right?). Luckily it was exactly what I was hoping to find.
If I lived closer the coupons would burn holes in my pocket like the Michaels ones and the Hobby Lobby ones that they run in the newspaper periodically.
