I had the privilege of working and teaching at the Raleigh store for over three years. The staff and customers were like family. It was fun while it lasted! My dear family, you will be greatly missed!!!

I'm sure many of you will also find this article interesting. Personally, I really have not been able to go to Archivers frequently enough to notice the lack of turnover in merchandise.
It is very interesting the my local Scrap/Stamp store Winter Blow Out Sale Tops Archivers Sale
30% Regular price merchandise and 35% off $90 and more

Hi Lesliespringer, would your local store be The Scrapbook Factory. If so, I love that store and miss shopping there. When I lived in Florissant, MO I mad a trip there once a month, I would spend 2-3 hours there then go down the street to Archivers. When I move back to Florissant in July/2014 I'll be able to shop there again.

Well, YES it is! :p
Love the Store

Made my trek to Archivers earlier this afternoon. My husband told me to buy whatever I wanted so as not to disappoint him my total (before the discount) was about $135. I will miss Archivers but do still have Michaels and Joannes in my area. All of the local LSS's have closed which I think is a shame but I guess we have no control over what the economy does or what the trends become. Scrap booking is declining but I hope it never dies (or else I'll wish I'd bought a couple of 12x12 albums when I had the chance!).
When I went none of the fixtures, tables, shelves will be discounted on the merchandise at all she said.
The tables at $250 each are out of my price range and way too heavy for me to move for each event at my house. My hubby is building me, my own craft area and I want to be able to move tables as I need them. Those tables don't come apart, most of the ones left were marked up really bad and would need to be sanded and re-finished.
I did buy some metal racks for paper storage...
Since I have a small craft room (about 10x10) I couldn't have fit one of their tables, either, although I certainly would have liked to! I did buy a Making Memories protective mat "thing" like the ones they had out on their tables when I'd go to scrap. Guess that will be a good reminder for me of Archivers and the good times I had there! I really don't have room for paper racks (I used semi clear file boxes for my 8-1/2x11 papers and the upright 12x12 plastic paper holders for my larger sheets of paper) but wish I did! Not sure if I'll travel back to Archivers again...I think all the "good" stuff will be gone before their discount goes down more....
I went last week to Archivers. Still lots of product to sell. The tables & chairs were all sold, not that I could have bought them. The wooden stands that the paper racks are it were selling for $175. plus $25 for the paper rack. Still weren't sold.
I'm going to miss Archivers' but there is someone from there opening a new LLS not far from it. I'm hoping it makes it. If not I always have HL, M and JA really close to me.
Stopped by Friday to see if they had ScrapRack pages left (no) but they did have one remaining Scraprack base unit, but I figured it'd drop again in the next few days. Sure enough, went back today and it was gone. I hope whoever got the last one got it at 40% rather than 25% yesterday.
They just sent out an email today saying the discount has gone to 50% off. They are also moving merchandise from low sales stores to higher sales stores. The Downers Grove location just received over 40 boxes of goods from other stores. The DG location employees have also started a Facebook group- there's a link to it on my Facebook page in my signature

I got that email a couple of days ago, if not last week. Wonder way it takes so long for it to get out to everybody???????? :(
Wish I could pull up the date, but I just deleted my junk mailbox yesterday. Had to it was over 2,000 in the box!
Oh by the way I also live in Illinois, so I don't know what the problem is with the communication of emails.

Are you in the Chicagoland area? They sent an email for 50% off stamps and dies but only 40% off everything else last week. It would have been nice to find out sooner when the prices were going down again
What a shame! I went there for a weekend getaway and they helped me start an archival family scrapbook. It was very fun, I learned a lot, and appreciated their expertise! Even attended a couple of in-store workshops. What a loss for crafters!
I can't believe this! Archiver's was one of my last scrapbook stores around me! I don't like Michael's or JoAnn (too generic)...what a bummer. I guess it's all online for me!
I had hoped to make it to one of the stores that's +/- 2 hours away, for one last trip ... But the weather has not cooperated and now I suspect there isn't much left. Oh well.
I wondered about that, too, Lelei. The two stores in the Detroit suburbs are maybe 1/2 hour to 45 min apart, so I suspect that one of them picked up some inventory from another. I'm certainly not driving 2 hours, especially in this weather, only to find out that I went to the "wrong" store.
Just went to the store here in Madison...very picked over and not much left. Some stuff not priced, so difficult to shop. Lots of big punches, albums and Tim Holtz stuff but they were all over-priced to begin with.
We visited the Kennesaw, Georgia store yesterday for last looks. Merchandise was 75% off and not much was left. We each bought a Around The Corner Paper Gator corner rounder. Retail there was $59.99 and when it was scanned they each were $6.00! The boxes were sealed and labeled as having a 3/8" blade installed. When opened we found that each contained the other three styles of corner cutters, two replacement blades and an alignment template. I had almost ruined my Fiskars corner rounder by cutting some 120lb. cardstock. I don't round off many corners and could never have rationalized $59.99, but could not have replaced my Fiskars for what this Paper Gator cost. I put an entire Martha Stewart Living magazine in the Gator and it cut so smoothly that I had to convince myself it had really happened. Cut through like soft butter.
There were two or three of these remaining when we left the store yesterday. Go get one.

Jealous! Gosh It would be worth it to even pay shipping if you go back and get another one!
I went to Maple grove on Thursday and got some Tim Holtz stamps and dies. Went to Roseville yesterday, still found a bit to buy. And MIL bought the girls a bunch of stamps and stickers too. We got spray inks, paint daubers, quickutz dies, letter stickers and more small things.

Got one yesterday. Threw it away last night. lol! I loath the Paper Gator.
I had two paper gators and for the life of me, and after three wasted hours of my life, I could not get the guides in a good place after changing blades. It cut great for the way it was factory set, but once I changed blades, I could not get it to round cut properly again.
