The last 2 stores in Wisconsin are closing. My local one closed about 2 years ago after moving into a beautiful building that was in a higher end "mall". Really sad....
Seems like the logic of their closings defies good business sense. We are going from what was once four locations to one, but it is in a remote suburb away from the city. Closing the centrally located city location makes no sense, even if the lease rate was higher.
They're closing the last one left in Wichita. That's down from three several years ago. Although I haven't been in one since covid, I've heard from friends that there wasn't any craft stuff anymore. I used to love to shop TM for crafting supplies.
Yeah, I got a scare Tuesday night when I got an email stating that the one in Carmel IN was closing. The next day I got another email stating that it was NOT closing. Whew! I actually hit both of ours yesterday (already planned before the emails). What I don't get, for us anyway, is both of ours are on the northish (one north, one northeast) part of Indianapolis within 10 miles of each other.
Ours just started getting craft supplies again. They've had a small amount the past couple of years, but nothing like they used to. Now they're back to a nice supply.
In Sept., hubby and I went to Gulf Shores and I hit the one in GS, which is on the closing list, and the one in Foley. GS had a small amount of crafts (but more than we had seen at home), but Foley had a lot, including collections of 168 Alcohol Markers in carrying cases for $20! I bought six sets (one for me and five of my friends.)
Yep, all three of the ones closest to me are closing. Folsom, Roseville and Citrus Heights, CA. That's too bad about Citrus Heights--that's a new location for them they only moved there about 3 years ago. Now I understand why everything in the store has red tags on it and percentage markdowns.

This is their 3rd bankruptcy in 3 years... I didn't know businesses could declare bankruptcy that often. My local one is not closing, however, after the pandemic they basically quit having craft items. They used to have nearly a full aisle with Crafters Companion and WRMK items - fabulous prices.. but after the pandemic they went to a 3 foot section of some stamps, but mostly stickers. Sad. I used to hit that store at least a few times a year since there are no other craft stores in my area for close to 50 miles.
Yes, ours is closing (Olympia/Lacey, WA). When I was in there right after Christmas, it was so streamlined…very few crafts had returned from how it used to be. I am sad but not surprised.
Our Michaels is in the same area, and it has also cut down on papercrafting inventory quite a bit, except for Cricut stuff. Hobby Lobby is also clearancing out a lot of their papercrafting products, so this seems to be an overall trend.
Wow! I hadn’t heard about this!
It has only been in the last 3-4 years that I discovered TM stores. The last time I visited one (September), there was very little in the way of craft items, and I already have so much stuff, that the only thing that interested me was some flavored coffee. Lol! Is coffee a craft item necessity for anyone else?
The closest store to me- Springfield IL- is closing, too. Hate to see that as I always could find cool stuff there and over the years had bought lots of stamps and various craft items there.Always fun to browse their seasonal offerings, too.
The few times I've been in Ollie's they have had no craft items. You can check the flyers for the stores near you to see what they're featuring here: https://www.ollies.us/home.html
