Hi all,
I was in Stampede in York today and was told by Deb that the store isn't closing and she gave me a weird look as if she didn't know what on earth I was talking about. That's funny because I was in the store two weeks ago and Roxanne told me herself that they are closing the store May 27th because they just can't compete with prices from the online stores. Deb was standing right there when she said it! Roxanne kept talking about the details of another lady taking over the store. Needless to say, I wasn't very happy about any of this!
I was in Stempede exactly 2 weekends ago and one of the newer employees was there - it was a Saturday afternoon - she said the stamp store was NOT closing, or at least that's what she gathered. The owners, who apparently are Jane's children, are having a hard time and I doubt that they are stampers like Janie was - Janie was always on the card table showing new techniques and new ways of doing things and was really a "hands-on" shop owner! I called before I went and spoke to Roxanne and she assured me that the shop had no plans of closing as of yet. It's sad to hear these rumors and I hope it's not true about the closing. I do feel their prices are very high (compared to mail order and Amish stores) but I was a frequent customer for years, buying what I could afford. Now that its the end of May, perhaps we will know for sure. Thanks everyone for your thoughts about this.
Please keep us posted if you know anything because I am planning a day trip down some Saturday. I would hate to drive two hours only to find them closed!
I asked an instructor there and was told it was safe until October, then it was up in the air if they were closing.
I see you are from York....would you keep us posted if anything happens? Like I said in my previous post, I want to come down but it's a two hour drive. I would be so disappointed if I drove all the way down and they were no longer open!
The staff at Stamp-ede does not know the definite closing date for the store. When Janie, the original owner passed away her daughter and son inherited the business and are now the ones making the decisions. Things have changed several times and we will let everyone know on our web or Facebook site when we know. The way things stand, as far as I know right now, the store would not just suddenly close the doors there would be a couple of months notice. So if you are planning a trip to see us please do.

Yayyy! I just need to find out the hours you are open so I can finalize my plans to come down. I don't do Facebook, so I'll see if I can find the webpage!
was just at Memory Lane,PA this weekend - Sarah told me everything gets turned off July 9th - she is closing for personal reasons NOT due to lack of sales, economy, etc.
Ladies, don't forget about the Buggies and Buds Shop Hop in October. There are 13 stores participating this year. Check out this website for more information: www.buggiesandbuds.com
It's a really fun event, and with the purchase of your passport for $12, you'll get an 8x8 album as well as a 20% discount at each store. Also, each store will have a make & take/take & make of either a single or double page 8x8 layout. That way, you'll be able to fill up your 8x8 album in no time.
My daughter and I are going to be in Allentown the first weekend in August. We don't have much time so i can only go to one store on Saturday. If you all were in my situation which one would you visit? I have never been to any of the stores in this area so I would love some advice.
Thanks!
For those of you who have participated in the Buggies & Buds Shop Hop in the past few years, pre-registration will start on May 5 for this year's shop hop. The shop hop will take place October 2 thru 14. Passports are again limited to 500 and sold out last year, so plan on registering early for this event. The stores that are participating are the same as last year.
Also, if you head to Amish Country on May 5 to register for the shop hop, plan on stopping by a crafting/stamping/scrapping yard sale in New Holland the same day. I've attached the flier with more information. 40 tables of crafting stuff for sale!
You won't want to miss the sale in New Holland!!! I will have stuff set up there and know many others too. However I don't think I know Cindy....LOL. But I know I am still collecring craft supplies that I don't use. There will be something for everyone n then some more!!!!

We'll just have to introduce ourselves on either Friday night during set up or on Saturday. Looking forward to parting with some older stuff and getting some new to me stuff.
Is there an updated list of stores for the Lancaster area? I am going to the show at York and to ALL the shops in Lancaster! I can't wait! I missed out on the Shop Hop this year :(. If anyone knows of any passes available?
Thanks!!

Check online for the Buggies and Buds Shop Hop and they would give what's left in the Lancaster/Harrisburg/Gettysburg area for scrapbooking stores.

I want to start a yearly SCS get together. I'm in Central PA, was thinking August 24th or the end of October to coincide with The online event here. Anyone interested?
What a lovely trip to Nora's, she is such a sweet lady! She recently had her leg amputated and is now in a wheel chair. I plan on sending her a card. If anyone else would like to please send me a pm and ill give you her address. She even gave me gardening advice!

I think a yearly get together would be great! Count me in as long as the date works! Where would you want to have it?

Although if you're trying to organise a wider-scale meet you might not be able to put the State code at the start of your thread title, I still think you might get more responses.
I got an email about a crafting yard sale at Pages in Time, Lititz PA. I'm planning on going and hope for some "new to me" goodies. So excited that they're doing this again since so many stores have closed. Hopefully it is a hit and they continue holding it in the future. Here's a link to their webpage for hours/directions/more information: Pages In Time | Celebrating Life with Scrapbooks and More
Here's an excerpt from the newsletter:

Some of the Amish and Mennonite owned stamping/scrapping stores in Lancaster County are participating in an event the month of April called A Whoopie of a Spring Fling in Amish Country. You can see the attached flier for more information or like the Facebook page (www.facebook.com/whoopiespringfling for more details. Each store will be running certain specials and have a door prize. I know us on the east coast have had a crappy winter, so we are looking forward to spring and what a better way than to spend it in Amish Country.
