With all the fun DT posts, I decided I had to post too so I can share my *EXTREME* excitement & joy with all of you who can understand! (suffice to say, DH just can't figure out why I'm alternating jumping around like a nut & breathing into a paper bag, LOL). I hope it's ok to post here - I would be so completely lost without the SCS community so it seemed right to share!
In the last couple of days, I found out that I made it onto TWO design teams that I applied for! The first is for Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps, which I have a whole beautiful pile of already, heehee, so it'll be a ton of fun to have some new stuff to add & design with for Nicole.
The second is for Jessica Lynn Original, which some of the girls have already posted about!! I am new to her line but the images are too cute for words! I actually just ordered a couple things as she has a v. good sale right now. Also, there is a *huge* stamp release coming up February 1st so stay tuned.
I am soooo thrilled and I can't wait to get started. (time to jump around some more!) Ok, I'll stop now.

jnovello - by design posts, they mean people announcing their excitement at being selected for a design team position...in order to be selected for a position, the company posts (here or on their own site) a "call", and people submit their work to the stamp companies in the hopes of being selected as a design team member to make projects with the companies stamps and enable others to purchase those stamps and/or provide ideas of how to use the stamps they have or plan to purchase...

Gosh--with all the congrats no one bothered to answer my post.
Janice, I am so sorry! I meant to reply to your question, and I actually must have started to and got distracted b/c I thought I DID respond! LOL, that is my life lately.
Anyway, stamper-c gave some great info, I hope it helped you. If you have any other or more specific questions please let me know or post here again and someone will help you!

I kinda feel like I am not qualified to try to give this info - there are so many uber-talented ladies here on SCS who are published regularly and on like 50 DT's at a time, LOL! But I will give it my best shot and let you know what worked for me in my successes (and failures, I applied for probably 7 other calls that I was not chosen for, and let a lot of calls go by due to lack of time or not seeing the right "fit" for my style).
So, there are several ways to hear about calls for DTs/mag. submissions/etc. The first is right here! Keep an eye on the Announcements forum and you'll see people post design team calls once in awhile.
Another is the PubCalls Blog. They post several times a week with various calls for design teams from stamp and scrapbook companies, online and fixed location retail stores, and magazines too. It's a great resource.
Lastly, you can go right to the source! Frequent the websites of some of these awesome companies. It's a great way to learn not only about calls for submissions and DT calls, but also sales, new products, special events and new gallery postings for inspiration! That's how I came across the Prickley Pear call - I was shopping on their site! If you don't mind e-mail, sign up for the newsletters - same thing - insider info on company news, sales, products, etc.
There may be other ways, but that is what I do.
As far as how to get selected, check out the style of the company and see if you will be a good fit for their products. Personally, I have applied for other calls in the past 6 months and not gotten in, but I have not applied for any calls that I didn't feel I would really enjoy working with the images/products for that company and that I could do them justice. If you think it'll be a good opportunity for you to be on that company's team, go for it! Create and submit your best work - no blurry or mis-stamped images, nice straight layers, neat coloring, etc. Some companies require you to use their stamps in your application, some don't, so pay attention to that. Don't get discouraged. The companies are often judging hundreds of applicants trying to find a good variety of styles for their products. Keep trying if you don't get selected right away!
There was another thread discussing the motivations for people being on design teams awhile back, there were a lot of posts but you can see it here.
That's really all there is to it - it's a lot of luck I think, LOL, and finding the right fit for your work. I worked hard on my projects and I hoped I would make it onto a team, but I was still absolutely and completely shocked when I did! There are so many amazing companies and stamp designers out there, I'm sure you'll find a great fit for yourself. Best of luck!
Thank You SOOO much Jennifer-G for all your tips on DTs. I definitely will use them. I appreciate all the info you sent over to me. Best of luck to you on your new creations with the companies that chose you.
BTW--you said you're from the Frozen Tundra??? Just curious where???
BTW--you said you're from the Frozen Tundra??? Just curious where???
Thanks again!
You're welcome. Have fun!
I am in Madison, WI. So it's actually *south* of the Frozen Tundra (Green Bay, WI -- Go Packers!), but considering how cold it was last week it definitely qualified as frozen!!!
Too funny....I grew up in Wisconsin. After leaving in the south for so many years, my husband, daughter and I just moved to Northern Illinois, Lake Villa. Back home to the snow...well we had some last week. Glad to be back...near the Packers.
Macy, can I offer you one more piece of advice? I clicked on your username to check out your gallery since you're so intersested in design team information, but I found you don't have a gallery here. Maybe you have one on another site? One thing that every call I've applied for specifies is that you need to have an online gallery, and a blog is sometimes required, too. You can't enable total strangers to buy the products you are using to create is you don't have an online presence where you are regularly uploading your design work. HTH
