It is Tickle a Teapotter time of the month and Sandy has given us a terrific "cooking competition" challenge.
Here we have Julia Child, complete with her hat and signature string of pearls. She has just concluded a master class on preparing her world famous beef bourguignon from her equally famous cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking.
I am very slow at prep work in the kitchen and my knife skills leave a lot to be desired...remember the time my knife got stuck in a pumpkin and I nearly knocked myself unconscious when the whole pumpkin whacked me in the head when i was trying to remove the knife...and then there was the time I sewed my hand inside a chicken. I digress; it took me 90 minutes to prepare the beef bourguignon followed by 6 hours cooking time!! DH thought it was a "nice stew", he is lucky to be alive!
Enough about me, here we have young Nigella and Heston. Nigella failed to impress Ms Child so she has to stand in the naughty corner (actually she was too tall so I chopped off the top of her head). Heston on the other hand has been rewarded with a chef's hat and immunity from next weeks challenge.
Nigella and Heston are both coloured with a Distress Crayon and my finger, I used a damp paint brush to get a tiny bit of colour around the edges of Nigella's apron. NOTE: If you own gelato's then you already have distress crayons LOL. Julia was from my stash, she was already coloured so I just added a hint more colour using a distress crayon and a copic marker.
The card design a pop-up diorama - Sabrina featured this fun fold last year (TLC522). I coloured a veggie garden scene and put it behind the window. The checkerboard floor was done with a black copic marker and fine marker. It is time consuming but a whole lot of fun.

Bon Appetit my friends.

You should not be putting those talented hands in danger by doing any kind of cooking. This card is super, as always. The details are mind blowing. Love them all. Thanks for the eye candy and the laughs. I keep picturing your hand inside of the sewn chicken!!!!!
Oh my goodness this card is awesome. Your cards always amaze me. I have never hit my head with a pumpkin, but I did drop a huge watermelon on my foot!!LOL

Oh Susie, you've done it again. Love this from the fab balloon valance Julia has in her kitchen down to her checked floor and her lovely garden outside the window. The way you mix crazy birds with people stamps and make it work is something to behold.

The bottom line, my friend - you are a skillful, talented card maker and colorist, and a remarkable storyteller!! I LOVE the card and all of the characters, especially the gorgeous Julia who is all decked out in her famous pearls and gorgeous hat! Julia's underlings are just as gorgeous and I bet Nigella is a striking lady from what I see as she's peeking out from the valance! How sad that she didn't do well in Julia's class. Wait, is she a representation of the one and only Susie Williams who claims she is slow in the kitchen??? My, my!! You always bring a smile to my face and joy to my heart with your outstanding art!!

Where your cooking is lacking you make for by your sweet cards and all the extras you add and the fine details. Love your floor came out great and I hope it did not hurt much when you chopped off part of her head---LOL Love your stories as much as your cards---you need to write a book and be an author and able to do your own illustrations.

Hee hee - what a hoot! This was the best read after the trying day I had - LOL, and am just chuckling! This is a masterpiece! I grew up watching Julia so this was just a lovely blast from the past AND a sigh as I am looking at your card over and over taking it all in, from the coloring to the details. Splendid!

Susie, you have mastered the art of Marvelous card making (I said that using my best Julia Child impression)!!! I will be praying for your cooking skills...and for Geoff. I think Bev is right. You have "unconsciously" stuck Yourself in the corner. Don't be so hard on yourself. I'm sure everyone has hit themselves in the head with a pumpkin and sewn themselves into some kind of fowl at one time or another.
You definitely should write a children's book. Your stories and your illustrations will make it a best seller! We'd all buy one!
Love your set design! Love the black and white effect...it really makes everything POP! Also love the checkered flooring...it's Perfect! Julia, by the way, is one hot cookie! The pearls are very stylish.
