This is for BarbaraÂ’s marvelous Color Challenge with dessert of water-coloring. I thought IÂ’d do something different with a colorful tribute to the Sonoran Desert of Arizona where I live. Here we have beautiful blue skies and the most incredible sunsets and sunrises. We are fairly close to the Saguaro National Park where there are thousands upon thousands of these slow-growing cacti. ItÂ’s truly something to see. To start my card, I lighted misted water on watercolor paper, then using an Aqua Painter brush and refill inks, I watercolored in strips and again lightly misted with water. When completely dry, I stamped the cactus silhouettes, tore the bottom and matted with black. I sponged on a little white at the top to represent the amazing cumulus clouds that often cover our skies. I laid down strips of cardstock to line up under the painted lines of color; and then put the panel on with Dimensionals. I could use this card in several different ways so I held off adding a sentiment quite yet. Thanks for looking. Hope to see you playing along this week.

Gorgeous, Diane! Love your desert sunset. I'm laughing because I was born & raised in TX but every time we traveled to other states, people always thought your card is what TX looked like. Since I grew up on the Gulf Coast, it was more like FL than AZ, lol. Palm trees & beaches.

We went to the Nevada Museum of Art last week. The kids got to make crafts. One of them was to water color a sunset and then add silhouettes in the foreground. I made one for my youngest and it had cactuses in the foreground! I just love your sky and great use of the colors!!
