This is for BarbaraÂ’s marvelous Color Challenge with dessert of water-coloring. I thought IÂ’d do something different with a colorful tribute to the Sonoran Desert of Arizona where I live. Here we have beautiful blue skies and the most incredible sunsets and sunrises. We are fairly close to the Saguaro National Park where there are thousands upon thousands of these slow-growing cacti. ItÂ’s truly something to see. To start my card, I lighted misted water on watercolor paper, then using an Aqua Painter brush and refill inks, I watercolored in strips and again lightly misted with water. When completely dry, I stamped the cactus silhouettes, tore the bottom and matted with black. I sponged on a little white at the top to represent the amazing cumulus clouds that often cover our skies. I laid down strips of cardstock to line up under the painted lines of color; and then put the panel on with Dimensionals. I could use this card in several different ways so I held off adding a sentiment quite yet. Thanks for looking. Hope to see you playing along this week.

That background is stunning!! Lovely take on cc. Hope I can get to AZ at some point and see those beautiful cactus and sunsets - although sunsets on Lake Michigan are pretty spectacular

We visited Arizona 2 years ago and found it fascinating. Absolutely adored the land and sky scape! Your card is wonderful Diane. I love the way you fashioned the background with the stripes. Your watercolored scene and silhouetted saguaros is fantastic!
