This butterfly took quite a while to make. I first cut a large piece of watercolor paper and stamped the butterfly at the bottom. I embossed it with white EP. I then scored across the paper at the top of the wings and folded the paper in half. I used papersnips to cut the back portion of the card in the shape of the butterfly. I then took a piece of SU's vellum cardstock and stamped the butterfly again and embossed with white EP. I then watercolored the vellum. When that was dry, I used a very thick layer of Crystal Effects to outline the lines inside the butterfly and I filled in the body. I then poured the micro pearls to the lines and the body of the butterfly. When that was dry, I repeated the procedure once more. Once that dried, I adhered amber Swarovski crystals to the floral areas in the upper wings and ruby Swarovski crystals to the leaves in the upper and lower portions of the wings. I then used Crystal Effects on the antennae and sprinkled on the Dazzling Diamonds. Once this was completely dry, I then adhered the vellum butterfly to the watercolor paper butterfly and let dry. I then outlined the entire butterfly in Crystal Effects and poured on the Dazzling Diamonds. This little lady shines. The card measures 5 x 6 1/2".
It's very difficult to see in the photo, but after watercoloring and using so much Crystal Effects on the vellum it sort of puffed up. When I adhered it to the watercolor paper, I got a rather large air pocket between the vellum and watercolor paper. It's so beautiful IRL, but I'm learning that not everything shows well in photography. To really see the detail in these cards, the projects need to be small, as you'll see in another butterfly card I uploaded that is only 2 1/2 x 3 1/2".
This card makes an extraordinary Easter card. I will be making more to send to family and friends.

These butterflies are so painstaking, you must have oodles of patience! They are so utterly, utterly beautiful! The flowers reminded me of some gorgeous china teacups my granny had!
