Here's my card for Sharon's (notimetostamp's) Ribbon Simplicity challenge**. The challenge was to use a simple image, a big ribbon and minimal other embellishments to create a simple card. I've had this ribbon (So Saffron wide grosgrain from Sherbet Ribbon Originals) for a while and haven't known what to do with it. I usually think of it as an accent, but really it's a focal point ribbon. So, with this challenge in mind, I designed the card around the ribbon.
I didn't like the ribbon just flat, so I pinched it in the middle and liked that look. I whip stitched it in place, then wrapped a bit of blue bayou ribbon around it to add a more finished look. I notched the ends and sealed them with some Fray-Check since this ribbon looks like it would fray easily cut on the angle. The ribbon is layered on top of a blue bayou scallop circle, with the "humps" dry embossed with my crop-a-dile. Underneath these elements is a wild wasabi strip on top of a soft sky card base. I stamped the solid and outline dot circles in wild wasabi and soft sky to echo the embossed dots on the scalloped circle. I've left a sentiment off this one and will add one to the inside when I use this card.
Thanks for the inspiration, Sharon! This was a fun card to make.

This is adorable!!! I LOVE the gorgeous bow you made with the wide ribbon!!! I LOVE wide ribbon, but if it is heavy weight, I often struggle with how to use it -- a light weight ribbon is so much more "usable" IMO -- and I LOVE to see how you've used this heavier ribbon -- FABULOUS!!!
I am also so impressed with your Crop-a-Dile embossing -- how clever -- I have never seen that before, or if I did, I didn't realize it was done with a Crop-A-Dile -- this is such a great idea -- I'm going to have to run right down and try it out -- LOL!!! Thanks much for playing and for this great tip!!!
