I was interested to try Dina's tutorial from the Inkling this week, especially as I had just pulled out shrink plastic as something I would like to use. In fact, I came across some little tiles I'd made some years back.
Tutorial is HERE.
Dina said that she didn't find sanding shrink plastic worked as well as the pre-textured stuff, but I gave it a go and had no problems. My main discovery was that the clear plastic turned out much prettier than the translucent. My colours got very dark looking on the translucent, although I liked the texture from the paint as opposed to Sharpies which is what I have normally used to colour it. I don't think the two translucent pieces will go anywhere other than the bin, but I liked this butterfly enough to use it. Riffled through my background box and pulled out a DOX smooshed background. Added the sentiment, and then framed the whole piece with two floral stamps from Lavinia. Edged it with gold, added silver highlights to each of the little flowers. Matted it onto black, then onto a white base, and stuck the butterfly on with hot glue.

Great card! All the elements work so well together, and the butterfly with the swirly sentiment, ooh la la. I think you're right and it may be time to pull out the shrink plastic again.
