This is sort of a case and sort of an inspiration. This week's FS is Wanda (cullenwr) - a very talented artist. She made this super cool card a few weeks ago:
I haven't been able to stop thinking about it - I loved her blending. I bought the ink brushes she used, but failed to buy more DOX inks (I only have 3 and they don't go together very well).
So I thought I would try it with regular Distress Ink. Didn't work to well - maybe I need to try a few videos. Since the ink didn't go on very well, I decided to cover the whole thing and then drop some water on it to create some interest. Also added in a wave on the bottom - it is really a stars and stripes image that just turned into a wave after all the inking and distressing - another idea that went in a different direction. When I was done, embossing didn't seem to be a good idea so I stamped a bunch of fish, colored them up, and let them debate who was going to take a bite of this fly. My guess is the closest fish on the right....
Congrats, Wanda, you are talented and sweet and a perfect featured stamper. I have one more card picked out to case so I will be back later. I need a nap and then I am going to watch that video you watched so I can actually figure out what to do when I order up some more DOX inks.

It’s always the journey that’s the most fun! I agree Wanda’s card is exceptional - I didn’t even dare to think I could master the look. I love your fish and the perfect words - a super fun card. Hugz x

Thank you, Nancy, for your kind words! I'm loving that you persisted with your background and made it work with the fish...so cool!

Nancy, Inthink your BG turned out amazing. Gives an appearance of bubbles in the deep ocean. Perfect BG for those little fishes. And I love the sentiment!

this is funny, you know what I thought of when I seen this? ( we have some new young hens they have been growing and doing the Mexican stand off with the old hens in the coop the last few weeks now that they are all intermingling and I seen this as chickens when I first looked at it ha. I love how much dimension you gave all those fish and that background looks really cool too Nancy.

This is so cute and I LOVE your reflective background! It's so great to share the "how to/had to" of the creative process. It not only helps the viewers, but the artist, as well, should they ever want to repeat something new that they tried.
