Stef is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has given us some new SU colors to work with: Mango Melody, Grapefruit Grove, and Shaded Spruce. The dessert option this week is to include either dots, stripes or plaid in your background.
I pulled out my Concord & 9th Floral Fill-In stencils and patterned papers and found a paper design with stripes in the background. Dessert! :-) I used the stencil with the larger openings and sponged on Mango Melody. Then I overlaid the stencil with the smaller openings and sponged on Grapefruit Grove ink.
I was all set to use a blender pen and ink from the stamp pad to color the leaves, and I could not find any blender pens! I'm probably the world's most disorganized stamper, but I'll blame it on still not having completely unpacked from having new carpeting installed. Whatever, I improvised! I grabbed a water brush and touched the tip to the stamp pad. I feared the extra water would ruin the paper, but I'm happy to say the paper stood up to the extra moisture with no problems at all!
The rest is self-evident, I think! Stamped, embossed, punched, die cut, and Nuvo drops, white gel pen, and voila!
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!

This is so very pretty! I love all these wonderful flowers and leaves climbing up your curved "fence." I was surprised to read these flowers are fill-in stencils so I am going to have to check this out because I sure love how they look. I like the added white gel pen work you did too. What a wonderful card this is using this week's colors! ~Karen.

My goodness, Barbara, you totally rocked these colors! The stripes are gorgeous behind the floral vine and the heat embossed sentiment on the spruce paper is perfection. Love the wavy scallop die cut too!

Just such a charming design! I'm quite intrigued by the fill-in stencils and patterned paper you described. Wonderful layout and I love the way you've used the Oval All stamp image, embossing white over the dark cardstock. Do I still have that set? I hope... Thanks for the inspiration!
