It feels like forever since I've made a card! I am absolutely thrilled to have a few hours on this cold Minnesota winter morning to create a few cards. I am currently participating in the Altenew Educator Certification Program(AECP), and recently completed their Clean and Simple Boutique cards course. I have been really looking forward to seeing what this class had to offer, as I think there is nothing more classy than a well-executed clean and simple card! I was inspired by a lot of the techniques shared in the lessons, some of which I surprisingly had never come across before in all the time I have spent on card making blogs and here on split Coast! I decided to make two cards today (please see my gallery for the other one) and use this technique to put a couple sympathy cards in my stash, as I was completely out of them and had needed to make one earlier this week for a visitation we attended. Rather than squeeze in a hastily done card the next time I need a sympathy card, I'm very pleased to add this pair to my stash.
Both are variations of each other, and make use of this week's awesome Sketch Challenge (SC691)! I knew I also wanted to incorporate a feminine theme, and use some metallic elements. As I drifted off to sleep last night or rather tried to, making cards today was on my mind and though I got the metallic and clean and simple portions retain from my plan last night, this turned out a bit different, though I like it! This was also my first time using Altenew embossing powder. I didn't have any foil on hand and have never actually worked with it, but I wanted to kind of have that feel with this card, but do something non-traditional with something other than your usual gold or silver metallic. I was really happy with how the embossing powder work for me... Does a great job with details on the sentiment I think! And it's still super pretty and metallic!
Thank you so much for looking at my cards, and thank you for the great challenges that helped inspire them!
Blessings,
C
