I am super blessed in that my mom enjoys card making as well, so when gift-giving occasions arise, there's often something for card making included in my box! That said, I wanted to give my parents a thank you card after Christmas, and since my mom had recently gifted me with these beautiful evergreen tree dies, I wanted to incorporate them somehow into the design. I hopped on to SCS for inspiration, and was thrilled to discover the current Ways to Use It Challenge (WT669) encouraged us to use a "New to You" item. Perfect! For TLC672, I chose "background technique" and brought out my brayer, which has been getting lonely as of recently. ;)
We were planning on seeing them in-person a few days ago, and with an hour and a half to go before we left to meet them (including my "get ready" time!), I charged ahead and came up with this. I was super excited that the trees really pop on it, as that was my true intent, to be sure mom didn't miss them. :0)
Cut out the evergreens from Garden Green paper, then used a piercing tool to tease up some of the `branches' that the dies cut into the fronts of the trees. Brayered the background first using Hero Art's Soft Sky to Navy ombre ink and then continuing with their Butter Bar to Orange Soda ombre ink beneath. Cut the background to the size I wanted to fill the main card panel without overwhelming the design, then ran it through my Big Shot with my Falling Snow die (I *looooooove* this die! It was a gift to myself on Black Friday... hehe). I then assembled the card with the snowbanks and trees I had cut out using foam mounting tape as needed to add interest and further texture to my clean-and-simple card. I then used my trusty and well-beloved Gelly Roll Glitter Pen to add pops of sparkle here and there in the background, on the trees, and on the edges of the snowbanks to add further detail.
Thanks for the chance to play with my new dies for this challenge, and thank you so much for viewing my card! You guys are the best!
With warm blessings,
C

Beautiful card for your parents and I'm sure your mom will notice those trees. Isn't it wonderful to have a stamper in the family? I have one, too...my sis. And, the rest of the family knows what I love to get for Christmas and other special occasions. Love your snow die and the wonderful job you did with your brayer.

It is always wonderful when a friend or relative also crafts and they either get us craft goodies that we can use or share their craft goodies with us. Great trees and great scene you created with them. I am sure your mom will love this super cute card.

I loved reading your story, it's terrific that your Mum loves card making too. Your parents must be thrilled to bits with this. Everything about it is fabulous. The bright colours in the sky are magic. TFS
