I made this card for this week's Alphabet Challenge for the letter letter P for pinecone. I also did the double challenge which was to use Kraft cardstock on your card. I first ran the kraft cardstock through the embossing folder, then I used 3 colors of ink and a blender pen to color in the raised portions of the embossing. This was fast and easy to do and quite relaxing too. I use gold embossing powder to add a simple sentiment. I decided I use gold mirror paper as a mat layer to highlight the gold heat embossing. Then to pull in the rustic tone a little more, I added some plaid dsp. Using dsp is a big deal for me because I really struggle to know how to use dsp, but I am happy with the end result here because I love the mix of rustic with a touch of elegance in the gold. Thanks for looking. ~Karen.

This is so pretty, Karen! Your plaid paper is a perfect background for your beautiful pine branch and cone. I really like the touch the gold foil paper adds to really highlight and a touch of elegance. Beautiful!

I agree with you on the rustic and elegance; they just seem to go well together on your pretty Christmas pine, Karen! Beautiful card....I wouldn't change a thing! Now I want to know why it's so Green outside. You must have taken this photo a while back, perhaps? The leaves that are still on our trees are colored~

I noticed that dsp right away Karen and thought it was perfect for your pine branch and cone. You achieved great color tones on your embossing folder-the branch and the cone. This has a real down to earth home feel and still has that touch of elegance with the gold foil and gold embossed image. Well done!

Karen, you did a remarkable job coloring the raised portion on your card from using an embossing folder!! I'm amazed! I would never be successful at that!! Love the card, my friend!! Hugs!
I agree - your certainly achieved a great balance with rustic and elegant. I love how your pine branches and cones turned out! The gold and DSP are perfect!
