This card was made as a Design Team card for Try Stampin' -Or Not- On Tuesday sketch challenge #344: http://trystampinontuesday.blogspot.com/ with an optional theme of "autumn".
Last week I created several panels of lovely fall colored background using the "Ink Spritzer Background" technique (Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers. When I started on this week's card I realized one of those panels was perfect for this week's challenge. It had all the right colors, and gave texture to the card without a lot of bulk. Please refer to the technique link above for details on how it was created.
The offset diagonal element required by the challenged brought an envelope to mind for me, so I used my Stampin' Up! Envelope Punch Board to create the smallest envelope it could (2"x2") using a two sided fall themed sheet from the retired Designer Series Paper titled "Color Me Autumn". I folded the paper so the green color would be the outside of the envelope, and the acorn pattern would be on the inside.
I wanted to convey the idea of collecting "fall things" which include not only acorns and leaves, but other precious things like "blessings" in an envelope. So, I used three SU Autumn Wooden Elements oak leaves that I had colored with SU markers to match the acorn colors of the paper. I attached these with Mini Glue Dots, and tied a simple bow around the leaves' stems with jute twine.
The sentiment is from retired SU set titled "Thoroughly Thankful". It was stamped using my MISTI for accurate placement with Stazon Timberline Brown ink.
The envelope with the leaves was attached using Tear & Tape super sticky glue, and then trimmed with scissors to match the right card front edge.
The leaves make this card quite bulky, so not suitable for mailing, so I plan to give it to my Sister in person at Thanksgiving time when she hosts our family get together. She's been a blessing in oh so many ways over the past few years, so I want her to know I appreciate it.
