I made this Cowboy Tattoo card for the Clean & Simple Challenge - CAS445 Go West Young Man! 9/4/17.
The challenge was to use a western theme on a card and I saw this as the perfect time to put some ink on a new cowboy sentiment stamp and to use a much loved, very old horse stamp.
To go along with the western theme I wanted a background that looked worn and knarly - found this coffee stained background in my stash. I made it well over a year ago, so it was well past time to put it on a card.
My notes on the back of the coffee background piece say that I used 140 # Strathmore Watercolor paper, wet the surface, added wet coffee grounds and let them dry overnight. After brushing off the dry grounds, I splattered fresh brewed coffee onto the surface and let dry....I distinctly remember splashing some of my fresh brewed morning coffee on to it in a desperate effort to make the surface look interesting. Desperate times call for desperate measures! Ha...
I fussy cut the horse image after heat embossing with clear powder. The fishtail sentiment tag was sponged on the edges with brown sugar ink and finished off with a twist of copper wire (to imitate barbed wire) and an antique copper heart brad.
Thanks for moseying by to take a peek at my Cowboy Tattoos card. Do you have a western themed stamp on your stash begging to be used for this challenge? Well, cowboy up and "getter done"!
