Gosh I nearly threw this LO in the bin and wondered why mine wasn't looking anything like the one I was scrap lifting, but I like a challenge and this one wasn't going to beat me!
This LO is part of the VSBN challenge, stage 4...I should have stuck with the order and done 2 & 3 first, but I'd seen a LO that struck me as being very clever and which I thought could work with my not so good photos of a soccer game my hubby and son went to when we visited the UK many years ago.
The trickiest part was working out how I was going to create a soccer ball template and wondering how the original LO had been created. I found that a stencil had been used, so all there was for it was to create my own. Having no tracing paper, out came the baking paper...that stuff is so versatile .....and I'd drawn my own ball. Mmmm...what next and I really wasn't sure where I was going with it. I finally cut out all the pieces and had them laid out beautifully on my craft table, when I found I needed to move them so I could start the LO. First mistake. By the time I'd got my act together, the pieces resembled a jigsaw except by now they were all over the table.
About an hour later and after lots of frustration, I sort of had them in the right order...maybe not, but it was the best I could do and I was beginning to think that maybe I'd lost a piece. This was starting to get tricky but time to stick the pieces down, and without covering up the photos too much.
By now I was thinking I really should have just followed the original LO but too late now. Pieces stuck down as best as I could manage and embellishments added.
No matter how much I looked at it or turned it upside down, it didn't resemble a soccer ball. Oh well. It was at this stage I decided to stamp some ink blots to resemble the dirt off the ground...something I had done before on a previous LO. Oops, I got a little carried away stamping to my heart's content, and realised I'd put ink blots where there wouldn't be dirt. Gosh this LO was starting to really test me.
This challenge was part of a fan favourite and no matter how I look at my LO, I'm sorry to say it doesn't do the original justice (sorry Joyce Ann). At least hubby sees a soccer ball...it's just a bit squishy
Thanks for looking at my LO. Happy day

I was laughing, reading this! So funny! I think it looks like a soccer ball, just fine! And I agree with your hubby, your son will love it! I think all your work paid off; it is a great layout!

I think this is truly marvelous! I Love the dirt splatters, kind of like watching a game through a dirty camera lens, you know like when the action gets too close to the camera and the mud spatters!! It is just lovely!!

Hey girl! I loved the story of creating the page! And yeah, I hear ya - I've totally done the "layout of the page" and when it comes tape down time, it somehow doesn't look exactly the same? I typically take a quick cell phone photo, which when I do take the photo, do not have to refer to. LOL. But if I don't take the photo, I usually need to refer to. So, yeah.
That totally looks like a soccer ball. And I love the mud splatters! This is a great way to document with the photos we do have, that we personally have deemed "not good enough". You, son & hubby will remember that game when y'all see the photos.
Great layout!
