I have been reading a short chapter each week in the book "50 Truths Worth Knowing" and then creating a card inspired by that story/truth.
This week's story tells of how when Brian was a youngster, he and his dad spent two weeks each summer working on some project. Brian never really liked those two week projects. The work was hard and he tried to do what was expected of him, but his dad almost always said, "That's good, but it's not right." Brian never quite measured up.
As a young adult he began to realize that his dad had simply been trying to teach him work ethic and about the need to do his best in any job.
Then, the unthinkable... one day Brian discovered he was beginning to be like his dad. Brian and his wife had just moved into their newly purchased home. She offered to mow the grass while Brian cleaned/organized the garage. It wasn't long until she told Brian the front yard was mowed. He took one look and said, "It's good, but it's not right." As soon as he said those words, he regretted them.
But his wife recognized the same words his father had said to him many times and she brushed the retort away good-naturedly, saying, "the grass is just fine."
And even Brian had to admit it was.
