Made as a Design Team Card for Try Stampin' -Or Not- On Tuesday Challenge #319: http://trystampinontuesday.blogspot.com/ that required the creation of a circle or oval card.
The card is a circular "pocket" into which a circular Scallop card is inserted. I won't repeat Sandra's instructions, but here are the sizes of the elements I used for my card:
Cajun Craze Base & Front Fold-Down: 4-3/4"
White w/ Green Leaves Front DSP: 4-3/8"
Dark Green DSP Pocket Interior Liners: 4-3/8"
Hello Honey Scallop Circle: 3-3/4"
Cajun Craze DSP Circle : 3-1/4"
Whisper White Circle: 2-3/4"
I did all the paper piercing and stitching by hand - I DON'T suggest this approach, since it is very time consuming. Instead, I would use a sewing machine, an NOT stitch edges of the fold down flap, if I were to do it again. Because for this card only 3 of the panels (front Cajun Craze, white with green leaves DSP, front interior pocket liner dark green DSP) require paper piercing around their entire circumference, you must do the piercing as two sets (the second for the back Cajun Craze circle and dark DSP only has holes for the bottom 2/3 of the card). The stitching is what holds the card together - it's only glued to attach the Designer Series Paper to their cardstock backings (Cajun Craze circles).
The edge of the Whisper White circle were sponged with Mossy Green ink before gluing it down to the removable scalloped panel.
The flowers were die cut using the SU Botanical Builder Framelits. Each petal was indented using the handle of the Paper Piercer on its rubber piercing mat. The flowers and leaves were attached with Mini Glue Dots.
This card was much tougher than I thought it would be because I had to do manual paper piercing by rotating the linear SU Paper-Piercing Pack Essentials around the circles' perimeters. To make this work you MUST sandwich the circles before piercing since rotating a straight template around the edges of the circles individually would result in dissimilar hole piercing among the circles. If you use sewing machine stitching, it will make this card MUCH easier and quick to complete. I love how the card turned out, but I'd rather it take less than three hours to complete!
