Since we are nearing Valentines Day, I chose to use the sketch to create a masculine card. Although the pattern paper from Recollections is "floral" in nature, I felt that it would work great for a guy's Valentine.
The floral panels measure:
Left flourish panel: 2-1/2" x 5-1/4"
Right brocade panel: 1-1/4" x 5-1/4"
Red panel: 1-7/8" x 4-1/2"
Black matting for red panel: 2" x 4-3/4"
I hand cut the black matting for the white heart, trying to leave a consistently narrow margin.
The word "love" is from the 2005 Stampin' Up! "Wonderful Words" set. It was stamped with Versamark, then red embossing powder sprinkled over it and heat embossed. I cut the heart out AFTER embossing so that I could ensure that the sentiment was centered in the heart (MUCH easier to do than to punch first and then try and stamp where you want it!).
The card was very easy to create once I settled on my pattern papers. Black and white with a splash of red are always a dramatic combo when creating a guy card for Valentines Day.
