I have a special friend whose initials are A. Ryan (oops) who with every good intention waggles her way around qualifications for some of the challenges, so I've been told. So I thought maybe that might work here. I understand this challenge requires 4 of something. My choice is Colors. There are Actually four basic colors here....really: blue, green, pink and orange. They just tend to get in the way of each other and sometimes overlap, thus kind of creating various shades of their colors but making them look like other colors. Thank you for letting me waggle a little.
I'm often drawn to stamps, dies and stickers of the Cat persuasion. We have no pets ourselves, but we do have two Grandcats that I love and am very proud of. They are brother and sister from the same litter. This stamp made me think of them. Of course they aren't colorfully striped as these two are...they are a beautiful luxurious black. There is Claire, a lovely perfect little lady; and there is Clancey, a very cute cross-eyed loveable big ball of fur twice the size of Claire. A purr-fect pair. I am regularly updated on their antics.
Anyway this is a very easy card to produce which is why I gave it a one for difficulty. Would have been if I did it RIGHT! Just slap the DP on, hit it with a sentiment and move on to the next step. Except I managed to make it a level two or three. The next step involved stamping the cat stamp on the DP, fussy cutting it and attaching it to the prepared card. I did fussy cut it without a snag and decided to attach it directly to the card because the DP is a typing paper kind of paper...no stiffness to it. I thought (mistake!) it would be great to back it with my heavy duty, industrial strength double-sided carpet tape (what every modern happy housewife must own). It would then have more body to it and raise the kitties up off the card just a little bit to set them off. I was just about to apply it when my little brain activated and I thought, you know, this tape isn't all that thick and it isn't going to make my little kitties look very much more Special. I've got to really Raise Them Up. Foam tape was the way to go! Got the tape, cut little pieces of it to cover as much as I could on the back of the cats. Ready to go. As I was about to gently slap the kitties onto the card I came to a screeching halt about half an inch above the card and quietly shouted to myself, You know what's going to happen, don't you? You still have exposed heavy duty carpet tape on the back of those poor little kitties and you know when this goes through the squashing machines at the post office these ultra sticky little edges that aren't covered with the foam tape are going to be squashed down onto the card and will be bent down over the edges of the foam tape and will stay there! You will have two gnarly looking little kitties. What to do, what to do? Racked my little brain for sticky tape memories. Aha...ran to dig some cornstarch from my cupboard and a very fine little paintbrush and proceeded to "paint" my exposed ultra sticky tape with cornstarch. Carpet tape under control. Done and done!
Thanks for looking and listening. Have a Fantastic week!

Welcome back, my sweet friend. Although i'm delighted to see you in the gallery, I am somewhat dismayed you would suggest I 'cheat' on my cards. Yes, of course I cheat but did you really have to mention it here? I'll cut you some slack and move forward ... what a great card this is. I love your bg paper. you have such an eye for color, dear Ms. Ellen. Your story about the carpet tape and corn starch is hilarious. I wouldn't never have seen that little mishap had you not mentioned it. To be honest, I still don't see it. You've created a fun card which I suspect will go to your grand kitten loving child. Won't they be delighted to see how much you love their little fur babies. Next, we have to work on bringing a fur baby into yours and Ernie's home for companionship, love and laughter. Hugs xx

LOL, Miss Ellen and Miss Anne I felt like I was a fly on the wall listening to the two of you describing challenge guidelines.....what guideline I hear the two of you saying. Ellen everything about this is terrific. I didn't want your story to end my friend. Thanks for the cornstarch trick - genius!!! Thank you for always adding your hilarious comments on my bird cards, those cards don't feel complete until you have left your mark. Xx
