I think of flowers like scilla, muscari and hyacinths, also wood anemones though they are a soft blue; daffodils of course, and celandines...and here I even have a few little forsythia blossoms as I was using them on a project yesterday.
We had blue skies yesterday, a St. Patrick's Day treat; today is cloudy, grey and was cold and misty earlier.
I used Brushos and a TCW stencil for the base layer. I have a couple of discards - one with ribbon stitched onto it which I don't know if even I will be able to recycle. For this one, I added ribbon diagonally across the colour transition. The flower layers were cut from white card, sponged with Brilliance yellow, and then highlighted a bit with a Sharpie. I cut them and folded them to make a half bloom, and stitched a button onto it.
I embossed the bottom part with a Cuttlebug ef and sponged over it with Mowed Lawn. The bird was cut from white card, coloured roughly with Sharpies, shaped a little, and then coated with Glossy Accents. I added a sentiment in the top corner and some yellow and cream sequins, and edged the whole card with white acrylic. And then I spotted some little forsythia blooms lying on my mat, left over from a project I've been working on - and they looks perfect added onto the embossed leaves so I left them there. I feel a bit ho-hum about this - but it's mixed media for sure!!

Definitely mixed media, Sabrina. I love the bright colors and all the different little scenes you've got going on here. Very creative. Look at it a little longer and you'll love it as I do. Thanks for the pm. I'll respond over the weekend.

This is not ho hum at all, Sabrina! I LOVE this! Your happy, bright colours are just wonderful with the fabulous stencilled/embossed bg! I just love your half flower and how you have coloured the bird - I used to use glossy accents ALL the time and now I seem to have forgotten about them LOL!

Looks like you took a lot of inspiration from the day and the flowers that herald spring! No ho hum here - just a brilliant display of creative energy flowing - Your stenciled BG, the die cut flowers, stickles, buttons, sequins, and punched bird look perfect!

I love this shade of blue and yellow, Sabrina, and you paired these colors with the perfect shade of green. The "brush stroke look" on your images give this a wonderful sense of movement...like the bird is hoping around and the leaves are rustling.
