This is for Sabrina's super fun Get (Bon) Fired Up challenge in rememberence of Guy Fawkes' failed attempt to blow up Parliment House in England in 1605.
I had forgotten all about Guy Fawkes night, generally refered to as Cracker Night here. It was banned in Australia in the late 1970's. Apparently there were too many one-eyed, 7 fingered kids and it was considered too dangerous!! Cracker night was great, kids of today miss out on a lot of harmless fun.
It is illegal to buy fireworks in Australia with the exception of Canberra, which is really funny because that is where our nations Parliment House is LOL.
I made this card in memory of all the kids who lost their sight, hearing and/or fingers having fun on cracker night!!
I coloured the image with distress ink, then took it outside to spray on black Dylusions Ink Spray from a height of 2' so it would gently drift all over the card and resemble soot.
I had heaps of fun making this. Thanks for looking.

How fun is this? I LOVE that image and haven't seen her before. Time to hunt Sassy Cheryl again. What a great idea to use the black spray! Thanks too for the background on it! I also love your doodling, something I haven't had the nerve to try yet! This is so darned cute, Susie!

Susie, you have created another wonderful card that just makes me smile. Your stories are aways interesting and colorful as well! What a great way to add soot! I am so accident prone I feared burning the house down with the soot technique. The spray is a great alternative!

How funny, Susie! Here in Georgia, a "cracker" is what they refer to as a local "good ol' boy", lol. But we have plenty of folks here who have had firecracker misfortunes.

Oh gosh, this sure does look as if you had great fun making it - well done, Susie.
Somehow (spotted your comment on Jan's card), why I am NOT surprised that you are banned from actual fire in your craft room, LOL. But who needs it when you can have lots of sooty fun in other ways.
I do wish they'd ban crackers here - technically they are illegal to buy, but street traders sell them, and people drive up to the North and just buy them across the border. I have to say, though, that this year I heard hardly any, what a relief. I always feel so sorry for all the dogs and cats who are scared by them. A few years back it used to sound as if we were an a war zone for weeks - maybe we actually have something to thank the recession for!
