We had a fun rhyming tale from Fran (philsmom), this week. We Teapotters are celebrating the 103rd birthday of Rose. We were asked to bring flowers, especially roses, and a child carrying roses would ensure extra cookies. I wonÂ’t be getting extra cookies as my child only has a headÂ….basically she is (h)armless!!
I would love to have gone crazy with rolled roses, but postage costs are an issue, so I compromised and used “rose” dp and my new floral vine. I used a Martha Stewart border punch on each side. The little girl is one of my very favourite stamps and I paper-pieced her hat.
I would love to say this was all smooth sailing, but that would not be true. DH is still away at the bushfires, so this stays between all 42,000 of us. I have accidentally (as if I would do it on purpose) put a hole in the plaster wall.
See the punched border at the top of the card, it doesnÂ’t quite make it all the way across, I will tell you why. This is one of MarthaÂ’s BIG punches, I was happily punching when the paper got stuck, not a problem, this has happened before. I banged it on my craft desk, still stuck, I banged it down again and somehow the whole thing broke in half. The bottom half dropped on the floor and the top half was embedded in the plaster wall next to my desk. Even by my standards, this could potentially be a serious incident.
Tomorrow I plan on reorganizing the photos on the wall – that should cover up my attempted repairs – acetate, cardstock, double-sided tape and molding paste. This could have been a lot worse, I’m not sure how, but I have a week to come up with something before DH gets home next Monday night.
Have a wonderful week everyone.

Beautiful card Susie!!! Your lattice is amazing and I LOVE the flowers (on the fantastic Prima paper too!) Your young lady is precious, especially with that delightful hat! Now, as for you....please take care! You have me thinking we need to have a teaparty for you and send bubble wrap, take away your hot glue gun and no more big punches! He he he ....but then we would miss your fabulous stories. Maybe I will just send you a little bubble wrap ;)
Miss Rose is sure to love your gorgeous birthday card!!!

Absolute beautiful b.d. card for Rose! You baby girl image is darling. The paper pieced hat looks nicely crocheted and it reminds me of an early 1900s English look. The assortment of papers and punched pieces are so nicely put together, Susie. You've got such a knack for card-making. As for the punch ... I'm just thrilled that the hole ended up in the plaster and not your head! Heehee! Hey, it could have flew off in your direction instead. Eeek! Luv ya.

I'm not laughing Susie, really I'm not !! Your card is so wonderful, and I adore your stamp. This work of art needs to be sold for a good few dollars to cover the repair to your wall !!
Joking aside, we send stay safe thoughts to you and hubby, and I'm sure he will be cool about your mishap!

Susie, for all your troubles, this card is beautiful! I love the pretty lattice sides and beautiful rose dp! The girl image is sweet, with her paper pieced hat! Now, next time the MS punches give you trouble, take your embossing tool and push down from the back side of the punch, where you can see the punch part through the back, this should work, all else fails just drop it on the floor! Now be careful, you're lucky it didn't hit you in the face!

Susie, this is fabulous! What a sweet hat for your little girl and your flowers are so pretty. I've banged a few punches on my craft table, too, when they locked. This is fair warning to be very careful. Thankfully, my punch didn't knock a hole in the wall...but, who knows...that may be my fate.

Susie, this vintage look is superb. Just exquisite!
Ok if the hole in the wall is large and you have drywall, you will need mesh. The mesh will form a base for the spackle to adhere to. Put on a layer of spackle, (drywall compound), let each layer dry. Make believe you are trying to get a smooth finish on buttercream icing. By the time hubby gets home if will be dried, sanded, primed and painted. I take a ever so slightly damp sponge to my finish coat to blend the edges with the wall so the repair doesn't show. We hazard prone stampers have to stick together. p.s. I recently dropped a MS punch and I was able to click it back together. Good luck.

Susie you crack me up with your crafting experiences. You would be a hoot to create with let me tell you. Why just look at what you done created today, an arm less girl with flowers and just cute as cute can be. When I read she was arm less I thought for sure some how you had chopped her arms off! So glad that was not the case this time. hehe Anyway, I LOVE your sweet card. So will Rose.......Now about that hole in the wall. Frame one of your fabulous cards and hang it over it. hehe TFS :0)

Mind-boggling gorgeous, Susie!! Love the vintage feel with the trellis, the roses, and the little girl with her sun hat on. Your work is truly one-of-a-kind and certainly treasured by all who receive your cards.

Well, I am just shaking my head and laughing... it's not funny I know, but I can just imagine! At least you did not get hurt or break a window and get cut. Your stories are priceless.
Now tell the truth. How long does it take you to make one of these cards? This is amazing. I love the lattice sides and the (h)armless girl is precious. Love the hat. Your dp is just beautiful too.
Prayers for a safe return for your hubby.
