I've been wanting to try the recent Mechanical Iris tutorial ever since it was posted, and last night I had a little just-for-fun time. I love interactive cards - I have three books on paper engineering downstairs, but this was a new one to me.
I pretty much followed the tutorial, except that coloured card won't go through my printer so I just printed the template on white and sponged it.
Paper is BG Picadilly. Base is sponged with blues and stamped with CAC Vine in Smokey Grey, and I popped up the iris element.
The little bird inside is from Seasonal Birds, and was on my desk. I think it was coloured with Couleur d'Art pencils.
Thank you for a fun technique, Melanie - one I'm sure I'll be doing again as photography is one of my hobbies.

oh Sabrina, this is so cool. I need to learn how to do this! I love the pretty paper you used for this. And the bird is perfect in the eye of the frame.
