When I saw the great technique video on Color Layering at the Hero Arts Blog, I knew I had to give it a try. I often ink my stamps with combinations of inks to get just the color I want (I even keep an old set of my chalk inks just for that purpose, so the color blending doesn't mess-up my basic colors), but I'd never tried combining the different gradations of color in a single design.
The bright & cheery summer wedding table setting that is this week's Tuesday Trigger at the Moxie Fab Blog was just the inspiration I needed. Pink, Orange & Green ... doesn't get much better than that in my world. Make sure you check out the other pictures from this wedding ... so many fantastic ideas.
I used the Hero Arts Silhouette Corner, which reminded me of the texture of the balls of green flowers on the table, to do my entire border. For the greens I combined Lime Pastel & Olive Pastel Color Box Chalk ink (stamping off once to get yet more gradations of color). For the bright hues, I combined Rouge & Tangerine.
The round table inspired me to round the corners of my panel. I finished with Hero Arts Great Flourishes sentiment in India Ink.
