Today's challenge was to use torn paper. Thanks Julia for a great challenge.
I was talking to my friend, Glenda, this morning who was making a water scene out of cuttlebugging and who had been to a cottage last week. So glenda got me thinking about water and cottages. I spoke to another friend of mine, Allison, two nights ago who invited me and DB to visit her at cottage for the day next weekend so I was really thinking about cabins and cottages and decided to use my Kittie Caracciolo kit for this card. I've only ever stayed at a cottage one time but it was pure heaven - so serene and peaceful and the lake was just lovely. I was trying to capture some of that in this card. So this is my take on a cabin scene for today.
I started by stamping the cabin and cutting a mask for it with scissors. Then I put my trusty scissors away and started to tear into this project! The rest of the masks I used are torn paper.
I masked the skyline with torn post-it notes and then sponged the sky in bashful blue and ballet blue using a torn paper mask for the clouds.
Then I masked off the sky to expose the water and stamped a reverse cabin in the water (you can barely see it now but it is really there!) and maksed off all the land parts with torn paper masks. I sponged in the water areas with ballet blue, taken with teal and night of navy using a torn piece of paper for the mask for the waves in the water.
Next I stamped in my trees and rock and coloured everything by watercolouring with my Tombow markers. I highlighted the waves with signo gel pen.
And then I tore my picture into 3 pieces and mounted it onto my basic black card base, hand wrote my sentiment (Glenda also got me thinking about peaceful sentiments...) and added the ribbon and Bella baubles.
Hope you like my card. I really enjoyed making it and loved the challenge of using torn paper. I'm on a masking and sponging kick right now so this was perfect way to make me think a little harder about what to do and made me put down my scissors except for the cabin mask. Hope you all enjoy the peacefuness of the scene and get to have some relaxation time for yourselves. Thanks, Glenda for the inspiration this morning, thank you Julia for the great challenge and thanks for looking.

Oh, wow! What a gorgeous scene you've created! Your coloring is awesome! Love how you tore the image in three and wrote the sentiment in between! This is stunning!

Your scene turned out beautifully! I love how you used tearing so many ways on this. The sky looks great, as does everything on this lovely, serene card.
