Try Scanning

One other option that works well for me is to use a scanner instead of a camera. That keeps the cards flat and provides excellent lighting. You may already have a scanner on your printer. Here is one...

"Crooked" on purpose!

I don't use cut-out letters a lot, but when I do I usually tilt them in various directions on purpose. Then they don't have to line up! Here's one I made with scraps from a quilt that my mother made...

I had been missing the zero from a set of number dies. So I had been using one that I had cut out previously to cut more - trace around it, cut it out, cut out the center - a real drag!
