Watercoloring with Watercolor Crayons

Use your watercolor crayons directly on paper and blend them with a watercolor brush or Aqua Painter™.

Supplies

Step-by-Step

1. Step 1

   Stamp your image with waterproof ink.

   

2. Step 2

   Take your first watercolor crayon and add some to the image. I added it to spots that I want to look darker later. Often images already have some extra lines, where shading should be darker.

   

3. Step 3

   Take your Aqua Painter™ or watercolor brush and go over your crayon in a circular motion, pulling the color over your image.
   

   

4. Step 4

   You can add more color to make the shading more pronounced after blending.
   
   

   

5. Step 5

   Continue to color your image this way. After you are done, add some shadow on one side of the image with a light color. I used the brocade blue crayon.

   

6. Blend again.

   

7. Step 6 (Optional)

   You can add some highlights with the white gel pen.
   
   

   

9. Step 7

   Finish your card.

   

Variations

Pick It Up
Take your watercolor brush or aqua painter directly to your crayon (the back end, as not to mess with your crayon tip) and pick your color up this way.
