Glitter Paper

by Lindsay Adreon

Use a mixed media treatment to create your own glitter paper.

Supplies

  • Glossy gel medium (The Crafter's Workshop Glossy & Matte Gel used here - matte will work, too, but gives different results - see below)
  • Palette knife
  • Glitter (fine glitter works best)
  • Heavy weight cardstock
  • Mixing palette
  • Other supplies as needed to complete the project

Step-by-Step

  1. Step 1

Add a medium size dollop of the glossy gel medium onto your mixing palette. And add in a good amount of glitter.

  2. Step 2

Using the palette knife, mix glitter and gel medium together.

  3. Step 3

Continue to add more glitter until a gritty texture is achieved and little white gel can be seen.

  4. Step 4

Using the palette knife, start to smooth the glitter gel over cardstock. Try to make the gel as smooth as possible with no cardstock showing through.

  5. Step 5

Cover the entire piece of cardstock then set aside to fully dry.

  6. Step 6

When the glitter paper is dry it should have a nice shine! Use the paper anyway you want. It can be die cut, trimmed down, or used as is!

  7. Step 7

Use Matte Gel Medium for a matte glitter paper. Follow the exact same steps as above.

  8. Step 8

The Matte Gel Medium gives a matte finish to the glitter paper!

  9. Step 9

You can also use a different kinds of paper. Acetate is a great base if you have trouble creating a smooth surface. Just flip it over once it dries. This also creates a glitter paper that won't shed!

  10. Step 10

Use your glitter paper however you want! It can be die cut, trimmed down, embossed, etc!

That's a whole lot of glitter, LOL! It's a good way to use up the tons of glitter in your stash (not that I have any).

Great video. I haven’t tried the paste on acetate. That looks very cool. Great idea.
