Thank you, thank you, Dawn! I am actually early with my Mom's birthday card because of the limited challenge today!!! Hoo-ray.
My card is based on a original work of art my oldest son created when he was 7. He traced his hand and drew tulips on red construction paper and green stems. He wrote in pencil on the forehand, Dad and Mom i love you! a little heart for love and signed his name. On the fingers, he dated it 1997 Febuary (that is a hard month to spell!!!) 14. I've kept it beside my bed ever since! When Dawn issued the challenge to do a shaped card, this sprang into my mind! I traced my left hand (creative genius!!! HEE, hee yes I'm a lefty) on slightly better quality paper (MME 29th St Market fresh outdoors natural print/talpole paper. I used Paper Inspirations wonderful coneflower image stamped with Adirondack pitch black and embossed with clear. 3 times those images are colored with Copics. I cut and wrapped them with pink lace and placed the flowers inside my hand. I added an epoxied butterfly and a heart locket from Inkadinkadoo that was inked in ColorBox dragonfly green and embossed in clear. It dangles from the lace. The Birthday sentiment is from Technique Tuesday's let them eat cake. I again used dragonfly black. I call my mom, MIMI now...it's her grandmother name...the font is Ma Vinci's Playful Heart...also in dragonfly black.
My Mom is such a dear, she carries around all our latest pictures and the cards I send to show to all her friends! Though we are very far away in miles, we are so close by phone and letters. I hope this becomes dogearred from her passing it around...just like the original that warms my heart every time I look at it. Thanks my big son for the inspiration. Let me know what you think, please!

Susan this is just so precious. It made me all teary eyed. I love the sentiment behind it. The inspiration is perfect. What a wonderful wonderful card for your mimi. I love that nickname. It is so fun. The coneflowers are beautiful. One of my favorite flowers. Then the terrific lock. Wow what a creation. Love it. You are special it only stands to reason that your son would be too. Great job. TFS

This is so sweet and I love the story about your mom showing off your stuff! My mom was my biggest fan. I used to make her cards to use and share with her friends...she sent gobs of cards to people. Her idea of sharing them was to put them in a book and carry them around to show everyone! Finally started making her two of everything so she had one to keep and one to send! I have them all back now, and I have sadly lost my biggest fan. But what a wonderful memory it is for me! I can really appreciate how you feel about your mom saving all your masterpieces! Great job on this! Sorry, I got long-winded!! Hugs,
